Disappointment For Maari Fans.

Maari2 (2018) was a Tamil Film starring Dhanush and Sai Pallavi in the lead. The movie was a sequel to Maari1 released back in 2015. The story revolves around the lead character Maari and how he manages with various situations and peoples.

Being a sequel the story doesn't have much to inherit from the Maari1. The story could be said with another charatcerisation and not necessarily with Maari. For Maari1 lovers, Maari2 will be a disappointment since the character wasn't expected to be like this. The energetic background score from Maari is the major missing.

The plot and story was good and had been better in another place and not as a sequel to Maari.

2nd half spoiled the film

I felt like the scriptwriter slept off after writing the first half of the film. When he start writing the 2nd half, he forgot the tone of Maari. And by the end, somehow managed to bring it a full movie. 2nd half doesn't fit well and it makes Maari2 a half baked show spoiling the fun. And 2nd half is too predictable too, (felt it same as Vijay's 'Theri' in storywise.)

Naughty DON is back!!!

After the success of Maari, Balaji Mohan and Dhanush teams up again for Maari 2. But this time Yuvan Shankar Raja replaces Anirudh Ravichander as the Music Director.

Mari, the don who kills, smuggles for his living but treats well the people around him and he values his relationships. Apart from the first part, we have new characters like Kalai (his longtime bestie), Anandhi (his love interest), Vijaya (the collector),etc. He always roams around with his sidekicks Sani & Adithangi. Maari 2 mainly revolves around the life of maari, the reign, the reformation and the resurrection.

Balaji Mohan's direction and narration is nothing new in tamil movies but it didn't lose its steam in any moment. He tried to make as entertaining as possible like any masala movies. The scripting could have been much more better especially in the second half where it is reminded me of Thangamagan. Maari 2 showcases the Naughty & Whacky Goon with a golden heart which is a dud. Maari 2 is a total blend of comedy, mass scenes, action and sentiments. The comedy works out well even in the sentimental / serious scenes. The dance choreography is commendable mainly in Rowdy Baby which is already a chart buster but the placement was not convincing. Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score was appreciable and he really did a good job to the nature of the movie. Songs were okay. Action choreography was also convincing whole throughout the movie.

Dhanush totally rocked in his role with his macho attire and looks, dialogue delivery and his power packed perfromances. Sai Pallavi as Anandhi, the naughty and bold character delivered her finest performance and was a worth to watch. Almost all the lady characters has got its space to performance. That was a good sign. Varalaxmi Sharathkumar was fine, but the screen space were less. Kreshna's character was also commendable and his performance too. Tovino Thomas, who plays the antagonist was excellent in parts but the repeated dialogues and style made a bit boring. The character Beeja was safe in Tovino's hands even in the second part with a new attire. His tamil accent was fine but the modulation could have been better.

All in whole, Maari 2 is nowhere near to Maari but is an entertaining one time watch.

Movie directors need to understand ..we have seen lots of masala movie and we can't take it more ...our new generation peoples are becoming smart to understand the depth of movie that impact their life not just some sloppy and useless mass audience film .. This was cringe Worthy when someone glorify a hero for his repulsiveness...

Not a "Maari" sequel!!!!!!!

It could be a good movie with another title, didn't have to bring the character "maari" here! let alone any connection with the previous movie, where is the min tone of maari?! pigeons, local gangs, rowdyness were the attracting theme of maari, trying to make him a superduper cool hero, you guys just spoiled the character. I would like this as a single movie, but as a "Maari" sequel? hell no!

A brilliantly plotted first half even if you feel a little bit cliché still it is the best part the 2nd part comes with a bit of lag with sudden twists and turns but overall predictable tovino as beeja and maari ruled the first half but tovino hasn't got the same in second half the mass scenes and humour was good somewhat equal to Maari 1 it really feels absence of anirudh the bgm and songs are not up to mark

Traditional commercial drama.. Dhanesh done his best but body language didn't give any kind of feel that he's gangster... S.Pallavi shouldnt choose these kind of role, since she seems to be odd on that environment... No comedy! No twisted ! No trilling action scenes! Poor BGM..... To be Frank , it deserves only one star. One time watchable....

Dhanush acting is superb asusual.but script is very weak even children can judge what is going to happen next..Sai Pallavi did good job but in some place her expression was irritated. Villian is not so strong.song was really great.. worth watching for Dhanush and his acting

Pathetic movie!couldn't sit through even half an hour of the movie.Absolutely no story line and you wonder why the director even bothered to make such a crappy film!I just walked out half way through!Can't say more.

Good action sequences

Nobody knows why 2nd part of this movie was made but it was better than the 1st half in certain aspect. Awesome music, it is Yuvan. Moderate story/screenplay. Average performances. Very Good watchable action sequences. Kutty Don's dialogues were elevating. Definitely a one-time watchable.

Tamil cinema is movie through a golden era in a very long time. Good movies with good content and making are being released. The old Tamil cinema style of the hero beating up villain and his gang and unwanted sentiments are coming to an end. But that is what Maari 2 is. Maari 2 does not offer nothing new. After watching path breaking movies like 96, Ratsasan, Vada Chennai, Pariyerum Perumal, Peranbu etc., i felt like Maari 2 was made ten years ago. New Tamil action movies like Petta and 2.0 is offering something new. Maari 2 is a complete disaster in all ends. Maari was much better film than this. Sai Pallavi is so boring and overacting. Tovino Thomas did a good job. I didn't expect this from Dhanush after the brilliant Vadachennai. Overall, Maari 2 is a horrible movie and I would recommend you to spend time on some good movies.

There is nothing in this movie..very week storyline..and there is no continuity from the previous one..very slow and old screenplay...i think the only positive is the rowdy baby song and sai pallavi's expressions other than that there is nothing in this movie..utter crap of a movie..

One of the worst movie of Dhanush. The movie was so boring. Songs and BGM in the movie were good. Everybody acting was also not so good. The movie lagged a lot as there is no story in the movie. The comedy scenes in the movie were good.

A typical South masala film with some good twists & turns. Better engaging thriller than 1st part. Villain also looks more terrible in this film. Must watch for every dhanush fan.

Can't sustain for more than half an hour even if u try it hard, where is plot going that question comes to mind on throughout,scenes has no relation with the plot, just oversmartness kind of stage act and no feelings for that female lead as she tells her intentions from first appearance on screen .just waste!!

Maari 2 could have been a better sequel

Balaji Mohan's Maari 2 is the official sequel of Maari which was only a watchable entertainer. The sequel seems to be equally watchable but might be a disappointment for those who enjoyed the light-hearted moment in the first film. Maari 2 is a much more commercial entertainer with the typical masala format. There are mass moments, emotional scenes, and comedy scenes. The film has its equal share of entertainment but seems to fall from the route that is supposed to go. It fails to stay in the Maari's world which might be disappointing. The first half is definitely entertaining but it doesn't focus on the initial premise. It starts with the usual mass introduction but has trouble finding a way to enter into the conflict. It's only after the interval that we can understand the purpose of the sequel but still it doesn't seem to work. The latter half is too much melodramatic. We have many ordinary and well-known emotional scenes that don't feel like being in the right film. It disconnects us from the Maari's world. Even though Maari wasn't a great film, it at least had a uniqueness that we can remember from the film but in the sequel, it seems to be a strong missing factor. Dhanush has reprised the role with the same energy level that he had in the prequel but after the interval, he misses the magic that he had initially. Sai Pallavi's role is definitely something that we use to see in commercial films but the way he did it was convincing. Tovino Thomas has played the antagonist with a menacing attitude. He is much better than Vijay Yesudhas who played the baddie in the first film. Other than these actors, we have several supporting actors who are left with a limited space to perform. Yuvan Shankar Raja's album and background score work but it's not as effective as it was with Anirudh's composition. Overall, Maari 2 could have been a better sequel.

Awesome movie of our Dhanush.

His style, acting and dialogues are perfect.

Bollywood should learn acting from these actors.

Such an amazing movie which was to the point.

Part1 was good but Part 2 is outstanding.

Loved it, loved it and loved it.

Can't wait for maari 3.
