Meet the Longbow Hunters
highmarksreviews24 October 2018
Arrow kept last week's momentum alive with "The Longbow Hunters", an episode, that, well introduces us to the titular assassin ensemble. Let's start there. The Longbow Hunters are a perfect addition to this season. Every member strikes the perfect balance between gimmicky campiness and deadly fighting prowess. While Holy Elissa's Red Dart might come across as more of the former, Michael Jonsson's shield-toting mad-man Kodiak fits into the latter, while Miranda Edwards's Silencer strikes a neat balance between the two. The team is a clear threat to Team Arrow, as they easily counter their abilities and under Diaz's (Kirk Acevedo) leadership, could be a formidable force going forward. On the topic of the team, that storyline started tediously slow, but gradually gained momentum as character development presented itself, for Diggle (David Ramsey) in particular. One concern I have is Diaz actually. He was schooled by Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) last episode and continued to be bested by others here as well. He doesn't feel like such a presence anymore, certainly not the same gangster from season six. On the flip side, Oliver's (Stephen Amell) prison drama took it slow, allowing for us to immerse ourselves further into Slabside and the goings on inside its grey walls. "The Longbow Hunters" has a slow-start and downgrades Ricardo Diaz to a Team Arrow punching bag, but its new trio of baddies and the Slabside happenings shine as a trade-off.

Felicity's bad writing strikes again
dberryii23 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This an overall good arrow episode, compared to the last few seasons, a very good episode. It was going very well as expected from the season premiere, until you get to the train sequence. Now I don't know if it's Emily Rickard's acting or just bad writing, but the "but, but he'll get away" line was so bad it reminded me of break off the engagement, frustratingly annoying, days of Felicity past. Now I loved her character in the first 1-3ish seasons but if this episode is any indication of her personality for this season, it's going to be a rough ride.

"W.W.G.A.D - What Would Green Arrow Do?"
Sam_Ash_7623 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
After a very strong, and I'd say the "Best" season premiere of the entire show, Arrow is back, I'd say, better than ever. "The Longbow Hunters" did exactly what I expected, it brought more depth to the prison story line, the Diggle story line and, best of all, the flash forward story line.

The episode begins with a brand new intro, which I loved. It quickly switches its main focus onto Felicity, a character who has (lets be honest) kind of extremely annoying since mid season 3, however, in this episode, regardless of what people are saying, I thought she was fine. Some of her lines and decisions were annoying, however, she had good reasons for doing these things. She wants her family back, Oliver means a lot to her as well as William and the only way to get them back (except Oliver, because he must be in prison for life... huh, that needs an answer, writers, what is his sentence?) is to track down Diaz.

The flash forward story line is (so far) the best part of this season, I've never wanted to know what is happening more so than right now in the flash forward story line. I love "Arrow", but the flashbacks for season 3 and a lot of season 4 were quite pointless and unentertaining, so being excited for something that isn't the current present story line is rare for me. It looks like they're tying these flash forwards into present day with the lines being said by William and the rock that Felicity gives him in episode 1 also making an appearance. I cannot wait for more of this story line.

Now, lets talk about the actual "Longbow Hunters", I was... a bit underwhelmed, I'll be honest. Whilst this episode is fantastic overall, the actual Longbow hunters themselves don't seem like that much of an interesting threat, at least, so far. I mean both black canaries pretty much took one down already so if thats what they can do... I think Oliver could easily take down the other two. I'm definitely not judging these three new characters based on this episode alone, I'll let the rest of the season decide that for me.

The prison story line was also very exciting, I love Stanley as a character (and his phrase "W.W.G.A.D" is definitely a welcome addition to my quote list), I'll be a bit annoyed if they make him a villain that Diaz has consulted with, because, that is such a boring and overplayed twist in these shows.

A LIST OF PROS/CONS FOR THIS EPISODE: Pros:
  • The prison story line is still exciting.
  • The flash forwards are being fleshed out and are tying to the present story line.
  • Finding the old bow on the island.
  • Felicity isn't that annoying.
  • The New Intro.
  • Stanley is a great new character.
  • Team Arrow working together (even without Oliver).

Cons:
  • Why didn't Diggle just shoot Diaz after the train separates?
  • The Longbow Hunters aren't that interesting so far.

SCORE: 8.5/10

Continues to remain the strongest season yet!
acorbo-4058023 October 2018
While not as good as the stellar season premiere, it still a very good. The action countinues to be outstanding especially with the introduction to the very cool Longbow Hunters. The prison scenes stand out the most with an excellent adventure that shows how far Oliver if willing to stretch. The only weak point for this episode is Felicity however even she has her moments. And the flash fowards set up a great mystery for the rest of the season.

not bad
azimov_ahmadxon25 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was not bad. I liked 3 villains who joined. One of the best action was when Laurel and Dinah fought with Silencer. Trio in prison made Oliver do what they wanted as expected and how Oliver acted at last was amazing. Felicity's whine was irritating as it was in the 1st episode. Villains' break-in was obscure. When cop'd stopped Red Dart, Kodiak appeared behind the cop from thin air. How he'd broken in was a question. Except for hacking, Felicity managed to use her head and make a good move at last. For that reason ending turned out excellently.

Development of Stories....
iamrupaidutta24 October 2018
Season Premiere was absolutely Awesome...You can't expect 2nd like it's premiere but Arrow Season 7 lives up to the reputation to be one of the best season...2nd episode is all about the story development of every character...Each team Arrow member has their own mission...The Prison scenes were just Damn...Overall It's a great episode...

Boring Diaz.
shogun36361 November 2018
Dragging the Diaz storyline out is getting boring. He is the least scary villain in all seven seasons so far.

I really miss That bunker lol
sumit-chawla27 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Now that's premier is gone my expectations are a bit low for all episodes until finale. I just hope the arrow won't go downhill from here. This episode was good. But Longbow hunters don't look as dangerous as it was mentioned in last season ( even league of assassin is afraid of them seriously ? ). Anyway , overall i enjoyed them.

Diaz is just looking like a sidekick now. Writers either should kill him or give him more screentime with some strong agenda. I liked him in season 6. So I have no problem with him sticking around for few more episodes ..

Would love to see Oliver out of prison before 4th or 5th episode because he is doing next to nothing in prison. First episode was impressive but prison scenes in this episodes were boring.

Felicity has been my favourite character in these 2 episodes .. she looks so determined to get Oliver out. Feel bad for her. Nobody is interested in getting Oliver out not even diggle. Such a dick he is.

Flash forwards has been amazing ... Looking forward to know what actually happened to Thea queen. Hope she didn't die .. writers plzz keep the door opened for her ...

Hope the team will reassamble and plzz I really miss that bunker .. lol .. I want that team arrow feeling back ...

Overall a strong episodes ... Not as good as premier but common not all episodes can be that good ..

8.6/10.

Not too shabby

Warning: Spoilers
Arrow is sort of back on track as it gains it's footing. List of positives 1. Oliver framing the guard in prison 2. Rene's humor. 3. Silencer beating the crap out of black siren. 4 . Diggle and Diaz fight 5. Flash forward(still confused about the plot but I'm intrigued). Negatives 1. Felicity not understanding why John didn't take up the mantle 2. Oliver's friend in prison 3. Felicity willing to let John die to get to Diaz.

Felicity !!

I'm sure someone in her past has told her not to open her mouth when she speaks. I've said it before...she is ruining the programme. I used to love her but she is too changed ...and won't speak properly !

Do Not Make William the Green Arrow
ThomasDrufke23 October 2018
For an episode titled 'The Longbow Hunters', I don't feel like we got to know a whole lot about them as people/characters. And is it just me or did you expect a completely different take on them? For some reason, I was hoping more for a menacing but also deceptive and mysterious angle to these foes. Not just a group of 3 thugs who don't show anything all that original.

Granted, I did enjoy the 'Silencer' character and thought those were uniquely shot and executed scenes that made for some fresh fight sequences. Unfortunately, the rest of the episode outside of the prison remains relatively dull and uninteresting. For one, there are far too many characters to keep track off and create individual plots for. I could care less for anything involving this version of Laurel. I still can't get over the fact that this world thinks Laurel and Tommy are still alive.

It's becoming increasingly clearer that William is the new Green Arrow from the future. Or i should at least say that it seems like its the most plausible at this particular time. I sure hope they don't incorporate time travel, but having him discover his bow and arrow on the island and him mention "not knowing how to shoot a bow" makes me think Roy will train him, or something along those lines. Silly much?

The prison scenes were fine, but a step down from last week. I really wonder what the end game of him being in prison is. How will he get out? Because I sure hope that it's handled logically and we don't make convoluted choices just to get him out before the crossover, I'm looking at you Arrow showrunners. And overall, this episode was a clear step back from the solid opening from the premiere.

Just watched Daredevil season 3 and Arrow is so crap in comparison?!!
elliotgarewal23 October 2018
The season premiere was great of arrow, this episode was not great. Felicity's bad writing will never stop will it. Maybe because I just watched daredevil and that was great I kinda feel like arrow is Crap in comparison to it. However this is my opinion so don't take it to heart.

Liked this better than the last one
jwwalrath-227-8548724 October 2018
Really nice character work in this. Several storylines and they all work well. Loved the fight scenes.

Only downside is that, although her emotional distress is valid, Felicity is way too hard on others. (And this is from someone who isn't part of the anti-Felicity group).

Diaz needs to go
andringaben25 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I actually really liked the long bow hunters and feel like the could be good villains, but Diaz really needs to die. He isn't interesting at all. Even though there wasn't a ton of the prison story, it was definitely my favorite part of the episode. Oliver really reminds my of the old Oliver.

Cliche, redundant, and entertaining.
cruise011 June 2019
Arrow 7.02

(3 out of 4 stars).

This episode of Arrow is a little bit of a slow burn. The plot does have Diggle, Felicity, and his team going after a power device that can destroy a city before Diaz gets to it first. Yes, Diaz is always a step ahead of them. Felicity motivation on wanting to take Diaz down no matter whats at cost comes in between her and Diggle.

It delivers with the action. It does have some clichés and plot holes. It does get a bit anti climatic. Which Diggle could have stopped Diaz easily. But they always let the bad guy get away. But I guess it would have ended the season pretty fast. It does have some cheesy dialogue of course. Meanwhile, Olivier is trying to cut a deal with some of the inmates played by Vinnie Jones. And trying to get rid of one of the paid security officers that is controlling the whole thing.

We want more Oliver..
rabihwaked-213-68458122 October 2019
I just want to say that if you compare episode 1 to episode 2, you'll find a huge difference. Episode 1 was great, coz it was all about Oliver in prison. Episode 2 was a disaster and it revolved about the boring Diaz, longbow hunters and arrow team. Don't you get it writers?!!! We want more Oliver and less of everyone else. They are just booooooring, script wise and personality wise. If your script was any good, I'd enjoy watching diggle, felicity and team arrow more, but the script sucks and is so forced. Oliver's story line is more interesting and his scenes are what we want to see more and more and more. Show us more arrow, not arrow team, and fix your damn script, that pales in comparison to even flash or supergirl.

What is going on?
nadeemrafat23 October 2018
This season of the show - after two episodes I have absolutely confused, I have no idea if I am watching the same series or a show about some guy in prison. I expected to see Green Arrow but there is no Green Arrow or Arrow as he is called.
