You should know
brianna_kendrick9 October 2018
Well, Stephen, you should know that the show is based on a book called "You", and that's why the show is called "You". You have to understand the book is written completely in second person, and you should be aware that in second person, the author addresses the listener (person reading) as "you", and in this book you hear the protagonist constantly going on long, indignant rants that you hear him say "you" in, many times in one sentence, thus the title. Had the book been called "Stalker" (assuming you meant "stalker", not the most likely autocorrected version of the word that I already forgot that you suggested as a name, similar to "stalker") or "Creep" the show might have been, appropriately, named as such. You, hopefully, understand.

If you've read the book, you'll see how spot on the narration is, while it sticks loosely to the timeline. The show makes good choices for pacing, so far.

Intriguing and Dark
Angela_Schoenauer28 December 2018
It had me hooked from the start. Reminded me of a Noir style, due to the low light. Narration was great as it gives us insight into the main character's thought process. You don't know if he's a good guy or a bad guy so keeps you interested to find out which he is. Its a current theme using social media and I liked the way the messages were shown on screen. The main characters are likeable and relatable and have depth as they are multi dimensional. It's quite bold in its sexual content. It had enough suspense to keep me guessing throughout.

An episode full of good, very good, mysterious, thrilling events.

You Season 1 Episode 1

Review : In reviewing this episode, I must say that from the beginning to the end of this episode is very mysterious and full of thrills. The reason why this episode is called mysterious is because there are so many moments in this episode where there is a lot of mystery in the place. The thrill is in every step of this episode. All in all, the first episode of the first season of this web series is very good.

Acting : The first episode has seen a lot of actors-actresses acting, one thing I have seen from their performances is that there is a truth hidden in their acting. Every actor-actress has judged enough with her character and has performed her acting very perfectly.

Direction : The director has read well enough in his role. He has done well enough with every actor-actress. I would like to personally thank the director for this episode because he has worked hard enough and gifted us with making a beautiful episode.

Story and Dialogue : Speaking of the story of the episode, it must be said that the story is very thrilling and very good. The storytellers of this episode have written the story of this episode with enough thrilling elements. There is a thrill in the story of this episode, there is a thrill of finding something new, there is a thrill of doing something for yourself, there is a thrill of falling in love at the first sight. Talking about the dialogue behind this, it must be said that a lot of deep, thrilling and romantic dialogue has been used in this episode. I would like to thank the storytellers and dialogue writers very much for their wonderful work.

Soundtrack and Background score : No soundtrack was used in this episode. Inside this enough attention has been paid to the background score. Background scores have been used to suit every situation. I have no hesitation in saying that extremely high quality and intense background scores have been used in this episode.

Cinematography and Editing : The cinematography in this episode is awesome, the way the actors-actresses are captured by the expression camera is really admirable. The team of editors has also done a good enough job and gifted us an episode so beautiful.

Other Departments : Speaking of lighting, the lighting is beautifully arranged in every scene, I have not seen any scene where the expressions of actors and actresses are not seen for the wrong lighting. Shot in some pretty good locations, which made the first episode of the first season of this web series good enough.

Overall Episode : Judging by all the aspects, I gave the first episode of the first season of the You Web series to nine stars out of ten stars.

Thanks so much for reading my review.

Amazing, innovative and clever!

Warning: Spoilers
For someone who's watched a lot of series and films, this one grabbed me instantly. I love how Joe comes off as a romantic, and he get's my sympathy, despite his actions as an obsessive stalker. The narrative adds a dimension that I find uncommon in film making. Had we just seen it play out without his commenting, one would make the direct judgement that he is sick and twisted. But the way he behaves towards Beck and other directly, including his thoughts are the ones of a typically "good guy" most of the time. This makes for an interesting character that doesn't fit the classic "villain" or psychopath. I am so excited to see how this progresses. Also, the use of internet and social media raises awareness on how public and vulnerable our "private" life is becoming. I can't wait to see more of this! Genius

This Pilot shows the series can fly high.

Nice beginning and shows a very known negative side of Social Media. But the way he monologued about the things he can get just by one view on anybody Social life was really good. By the way he is really a good character with both positive and negative impact.

An intriguing new drama
DVD_Connoisseur31 December 2018
"You" is an interesting new drama from Netflix. Part dark comedy, part psychological drama, this is very different from your normal "boy meets girl" television series.

Unpredictable, fast moving and suspenseful, the pilot bodes well for a solid series.

Pilot

Joe's neighbour was right. He is creepy.

The pilot episode of You introduces Joe Goldberg a manager of a small Newy York bookstore. He loves literature, the bookshop has a book vault in the basement for old or rare books.

Joe seems like a nice guy, intelligent and a bit geeky. When he meets pretty Guinevere Beck, graduate literature student who visits the bookstore one day.

Joe becomes a stalker. He hangs outside her apartment, he follows her digital footprints. Eventually Joe decides to do something about her on/off boyfriend.

This was a pacy first episode. It did not waste much time with a set up. The constant narration from Joe's point of view was a reminder of Dexter. Although the narration itself can get too much, although it also keeps it darkly comic maybe even ironic.

It did switch to disturbing very quickly and shows the danger of living your life openly online.

All aboard.

Warning: Spoilers
An intriguing show. Similar to that of "Dexter," with inner monologue and characterizing analysis and the protagonist getting involved behind the scenes. It's good stuff with potential, the subject matter is the question and only limitation here. He didn't need to do any of the stalking either, as she already liked him from the get go.

Poor writing
Locke74 January 2020
Can't go five minutes in the first episode without the mention of some sexual related content. I'm no prude but it's certainly a sign of poor writing So I'm not hopeful. Interesting concept so I'll give it a couple more episodes.

Great show but how about....
theoneandonlyhyperdriver26 December 2018
Great show but how about some creepy women for a change? I, and most of my male friends, have attracted female stalkers. I think wr are supposed to be flattered. It seems that it is only men that are seen as creepy in this strange PC world we inhabit I guess. A good watch.

real creepy guy!

Warning: Spoilers
I liked it a lot. but the version I watched had swear words dubbed out! what's the point of filming it with swear words then dubbing them out make no sense to me? I think they have a good plot here and could make other versions. The title sucks "You" google it, nothing there. why not "Following" that's what people do on facebook! "Starker" is to much "Creep" would be perfect you could even have radiohead as your theme song? but you don't allow swearing so "Creep" would be to scary. spoiler they should've killed the boyfriend off. I don't think it will go more than one season. it just seems to PG-13 to me.
