So far we can see how the writing will be with this series. Bad things will always happen to the good guys. The bad guys will always be in control. The good guys will never have any great moments where they win anything. They will only have minor victories where they don't lose as much as they could have.
This style of writing is clichéd, boring and tedious. I don't want to watch people lose all the time. How about having some X-Men moments, where they beat the crap out of the bad guys and DON'T get thrown in prison.
I can easily predict where this will go. Watch this: Reed will give up the mutants' location, the children will eventually be captured. Prison scenes where mutants try to take control, but guards and bad inmates ALWAYS win in the end. We will get all the way to the end of the season and everything they've done to escape and protect other mutants will have been in vain. At the end of the season, bad guys will be in complete control. And that will be what these writers consider a cliffhanger.
Here's some suggestions: The mutants gain strength and form a powerful group. They use their powers to challenge the bad guys, and various battles ensue - mostly won by the mutants. (Yes, I know that goes against the grain of hack writers. But remember, this is meant for our entertainment, and that's what we want.) Some officials team up with the mutant league, they manage to do some good in the world. More battles ensue, still mostly won by the mutants. (Why? Because that's fun!) Oh, and that evil bald guy, have him killed off by a mutant when he tries to kill the kids or something...and have it televised so the whole world sees him trying to kill children and then people start to question the gov't powers to imprison/kill mutants.
In other words, steer this thing in the right direction before it's too late.
