Superb examination of a seminal album in music history
grantss12 May 2018
The making of The Doors' eponymous debut album, released in 1967. Includes the early history of The Doors, how each song developed and interviews with the three surviving members of the band.

As with most of the episodes in the Classic Albums series, a thorough, edifying look into the making of a brilliant, seminal album. This episode is particularly impressive as we get to hear how each song on the album developed, from the lips of three people who had a large hand in the making of it - Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore. Very interesting and illuminating.

We also have some rare live footage of The Doors and a reasonably good attempt to peer into the mind of the genius behind their lyrics, Jim Morrison.

Getting At The Music
Hitchcoc28 December 2021
This series featuring classic albums focuses on the first Doors album. What is great about it is that the three surviving members of the group talk about the making of the album rather than focusing on how often Morrison was arrested on stage and the details of his death. Densmore, Manzarak, and Kreager show first hand their contributions while giving a portrait of their leader. Included are people from the music business who showed how the album was put together. It truly is one of the best of all time.
