Waste of their money and your time

I gave it 2 stars because they have done efforts, of course they sometimes had to wake up early to film and so on, this is the effort, but this movie is a disaster from many aspects, poor script, cheap effects, bad acting, and hey they forgot to add "Comedy" to the type of this "project", sorry cast you have failed big time.

its a graveyard movie
ops-5253523 June 2020
Well, after this roller coaster use of hifi drone filming, with droneshadows spot on and dust and leaves coming from the groung when hovering above the ground, tells me abit about the experience the crew of filmakers has. there are also some terrible sound work that shouldve been dealt with in postproduction. a little plus i give for the choice of locations, that really gives you the brackish feeling of the devilish undertones of this film.

its a newbies project thats for sure, the story tries to pretend something sub-supernatural but its no more than a copy of hundreds of bad flicks made in the 80's and 90's, its ploting gives great confussion, and the timeline hard to follow. the use of slowmotion is pure overkill for the impatient one of us, the acting crew do have some credibility and experience in their turns, but stumbles a bit herenthere, espescially on the swat and military tactics, and its all merely due to bad direction.

the first five mins do have an interesting chime of promise , mostly due to the score, but that very soon gets smashed by use of cheap synth sounds, that can be effectfull if done right but not here.

the makeup crew and special effects department shall be praised for their job making this a blood dripping experience, but thats it. the grumpy old man feel this was a copycatish, lets make a fake movie to make money, before the real horrorthriller hit of the summer reach the market-production, like the nun, midway, and top gun 2 films has had. its not a film thats unrecommended, it just didnt feel right on my swollen tounge, its a max of three stars out of ten

1960's Planet of the Apes meet modern day Detroit
pubquiz25 June 2020
Unconvincing dialog in the early scenes, it look like they'd not bothered to rehearse followed by an actor who had clearly drawn the short straw playing the monster but who had, unfortunately decided to base his acting style on a 1960's character from the Planet of the Apes. At least it added a bit of comedy to the movie

Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.
nogodnomasters3 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The picture takes place in Lake Orion a suburb of Detroit. The focus is on Police Officer Billy Jean (Jesi Jensen) who fought in a war and has unrelated flashbacks. Many of the town's criminal types are being horrifically murdered. The killer is described as a red devil with a tail.

The back story to the red devil was not convincing. The plot dragged along with meaningless flashbacks that didn't mesh well with the current situation. The murder scenes were awkward shot at bad angles.

Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity. Jesi Jensen takes a shower with her clothes on.

Smash 'Em Over Like Bulldozers....
wandernn1-81-68327411 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay! We begin here with some kind of town celebration of something. Halloween maybe? People are in costumes.

Then I guess we have a murder, in the cemetery. And the cops there to investigate. They suspect the boyfriend. The boyfriend says some creature with glowing eyes did it. The Chief tells the Detective, the girl was running around with a 'powerful city gang'. The Detective says There's something bigger going on. That she 'can feel it'!!!

Detective gets a call about something bad happening in the back of a Chapel. There's been a homicide AGAIN. Boy this Lake Orion town looks like a real craphole. Buildings and streets look terrible.

So a bunch of stuff goes down. We got cops, gangs, clergy, Druggies, Veterans, bunch of scenes where really not much happens.

Then someone blows up drug dealers house. So I guess more bodies. Wait is he alive??

Then Detective she has a possible suspect at this abandoned building. She calls for backup! She finds a figure on the ROOF of the building, but turns her head to radio backup again and when she turns back the figure it gone!!!

Then we have a protest in front of the MAYOR'S OFFICE! Or the City Council, whatever. The City Council meeting wiht the Mayor, she announces there have been 17 deaths in the last WEEK!

So bottom line is some guy summoned some sort of demon thing to do this 'work'. The demon creature thing is obviously just a man in a mask. So no big special effects here.

I thought the plot / story of the movie was pretty boring. But the acting, camera stuff was okay. I really didn't have any major complaints except the summoned creature thing was the dumbest part.

-1 Star for the summoned creature plotline....

Devil's Night: Dawn of the Ninny-Git
tmccull5225 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I live in Michigan, almost exactly half-way between Detroit, and Lake Orion. I have relatives that live in Lake Orion; as such, I've visited the area many times, and so I can state the following without any equivocation whatsoever:

There is no section or neighborhood in Lake Orion that even remotely resembles the city of Detroit, particularly those shown in this movie... NONE. Gangs are not a huge issue in Lake Orion. There aren't blocks after blocks of dilapidated, abandoned homes, or ruins of other buildings, as depicted in this movie. According to one character in the movie, a clergyman, Lake Orion is being ravaged by prostitution and violent crime. I mentioned this, and this movie, to my relatives that live in Lake Orion; I think that they're still laughing about it.

Most of the performances are flatly laughable, but Jeri Jensen actually does okay as the female lead/main character. The premise of the movie is that a dark supernatural creature is behind a murder spree in Lake Orion. Now mind you, there isn't even a littering spree in Lake Orion, let alone a murder spree. I was surprised to see a local Fox 2 news anchor, Jay Towers, in the movie. Towers is a popular local figure in the metropolitan Detroit area.

This film links Detroit and Lake Orion as though they're neighboring communities; they are not even close to being such. Lake Orion is well north of Detroit, straight up the I-75 freeway. I wanted to see this movie because I am very familiar with the area represented, and because the locations are so badly misrepresented and misconstrued, it made a bad movie seem even worse.

As mentioned earlier, Jensen does okay in the movie, as well as can be expected for all of the flaws and mistakes. If you're not from Michigan, and can overlook all of the mistakes and misrepresentations, you may, and I stress MAY, get something out of this movie.

Devil's Night Delivers
Jessicaa219 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly it was time for a strong female Lead and Devil's Night delivers with Billie Jean Finnick (played by Jesi Jensen). The main 4 stars are truly the magic behind the film (Jesi Jensen, Jensen, Nathan Mathers (who is Emimen's little brother in his first movie, Sam Logan Khaleghi and Jerry Narsh), I wish I would have seen more of the two detectives who's parallel story chasing Marcel really works. Nathan Mathers and Ammar Nemo are the perfect Starsky and Hutch, comedy and action blended. Filmmaker Sam Logan Khaleghi provides strong visuals in his film which comes from his decade of work in music videos and with his collaboration with the musician Michael Tremante ( based on IMDB is a Lord of the Rings music producer) the music was EXCELLENT. Sam Logan Khaleghi also also plays the supporting role of Marcel who's side story takes the audience for a twist as we are thought to believe Marcel is the one behind all the crimes in the film at first and that's why the two detectives are supposed to chase him down. His Godfather is the Mayor of Detroit played by recording artist Swifty McVay. The Visual Effects of the Nain Rouge itself goes in and out of quality, In some scenes it's great and in a few it's not as good (reminds me of a lot of modern VFX action films in that way though) Kind of like how Wolverine's claws were in X-Men Origins kind good sometimes and kinda just obviously a special effect sometimes. Jerry Narsh who is the police chief and Grover McCants who is Jesi Jesen's partner are excellent and deliver pretty powerful performances too along with John Forman's role of the nutty town pastor. Everyone else for the most part is however forgettable unfortunately, there are a bit too many dayplayers and random supporting cast that appear in a forced way however, such characters that provide opportunity for the audience to side step at times. There's a guy who plays a museum manager, the museum is robbed of an artifact early on, who is barely understandable at times (actor with a really strong accent) I didn't understand the lore of the nain rouge he was trying to explain and had to watch twice because it was confusing. Outside of that Overall it's a Really good solid film for a first watch on a streaming site, but I wouldn't go out of my way to own it. That said the 4 or 5 main actors are fun enough that I would suggest this to friends of mine that want to log on and watch a good crime drama with a supernatural twist ending.
