The Cast of Kid Brother.
kollarrr4 April 2019
The three main characters in Kid Brother played by Alan Longstreet, Tonya Hawkins and Peter Herold are fresh and are easily identified with. The audience quickly feels empathy for Aaron as a janitor in a mundane, repetitious, going nowhere career, Amanda as the go-to, forever friend that is constantly trying to make Aaron the man that he could be, and Jared, the wide eyed Kid Brother that believes life can only get better now that he and Aaron have reunited. Tonya and Alan are both solid as Amanda and Aaron while battling their emotions with the new circumstances they've been dealt, but Peter is phenomenal as Jared, Aaron's little brother. Peter's screen presence is riveting in every scene he's in. He attacks each line with passion and emotion that is truly felt by the audience. We will hear and see more from the Cameron Brothers as they continue to present fresh entertainment from the Midwest.

Not bad

This is a nice movie with a good story line. Realistic how it presents what the relationship between siblings can be and the issues that people can have. The reason I give it a 6/10 is that the acting is not the greatest but for a low budget film it is certainly acceptable. Overall a watchable movie that is worth the time, just don't expect great cinema.

Low budget Garbage!!!!

I have pretty much exhausted my supply of LGBTQ movies. This was one of the last ones on the list, but I didn't get why it was included. Were there any gay characters in this? The whole look of the movie is low....low LOW budget. The first scene show the older brother vacuuming a commercial hallway and then going to a dive bar where he encounters a female who pulls a stupid, UNFUNNY stunt on him. The actor playing the older brother couldn't have any less charisma or screen presence. In that sense, he plays a great boring loser who may as well have "loser" written across his forehead. His younger brother inexplicably pops into his life and we get a spark of energy, but it's never interesting or compelling to watch. I have to admit I stopped watching after the pizza costume scenes....I just couldn't take it anymore. It just kept going nowhere and getting worse.

Worth your time

I selected this film by accident. Glad I did. A clever heartwarming (that's a positive) story of two dissimilar brothers on a quest to find their absent father and forge a long faded bond between them. Mixed with clever dialogue and humor.

Surprisingly entertaining

This film had been sitting on my Watchlist for awhile and every time I considered it I thought it would be a rip-off of some other "son goes looking for long lost father with long lost brother" film. When I finally decided to watch, I was pleasantly surprised by the solid acting, script, and depth of the characters. While the plot is fairly predictable, the storytelling made it fun to watch.

Longstreet Holds This Movie Together

A strong, quirky, nuanced performance by Alan Longstreet makes this an outstanding film. Longstreet pulls a rather average plot into something stronger and more believable.

Complexity of love
istnichtleiwand26 July 2023
Slow start initially but I'm glad I stayed with it. It's a thoughtful handling of the nature and complexity of love. Strong performances by each character. They are all so different and yet have so much to learn from the others. Amanda pulls it all together in the end allowing for reconciliation between Aaron and Jarred.

I'd definitely recommend this if you like indie films. The screenplay is well written with plenty of little plot twists, and the musical choices are a satisfying complement.

It is a bit of a stretch believing there's an eleven year age difference between Aaron and Jarred, and that as brothers they could be so different.
