When a Spartan prisoner escapes Pandarus - who hangs himself - is thought to have helped him but Priam suspects Helen. Division is split between suing for peace or launching an attack on the besiegers until, leaving the city, the Trojans find an injured Spartan, Thersites, and a huge wooden horse, allegedly full of food. Believing Thersites' claim that the enemy has finally gone, following the death of Achilles, the Trojans take it into their city, despite Cassandra's misgivings. It will prove to be their undoing and the fall of Troy whilst Odysseus sets out on a mission of his own.
