- Calvin (Robert W. Smith) is a resident at a senior living facility dealing with early-onset Alzheimer's. He's also dealing with the rules and difficult personalities that come with being part of a community, complete with obnoxious frenemies and outright rivals. With the help of his equally nonconformist caregiver Claire (Natalie Gee), Calvin manages to squeeze in some fun and zest into his life, even as he grapples with his sense of loss and limitation.
Claire arrives seeking Calvin's whereabouts. Claire sees Calvin's apartment is in disarray but she finds a check for her services. Calvin emerges from the bathroom. Claire brings him a muffin and replaces his empty wine bottles with full ones. Calvin confirms he and Claire are going to his wife Helen's retrospective. Claire want to go to Bingo in the rec hall, but Calvin shoots an imaginary gun at his head.
When Claire and Calvin relax, Barney (Tadashi Mitsui), Calvin's archenemy, arrives in the social lounge and proclaims his sexual prowess. He and another discuss the attractive teacher at water aerobics. Barney shows off to the ladies before the exercise class. Surprisingly, Tim (Jorge Luna) a guest instructor appears. He is a very buff young man who excites all the ladies much to Barney's chagrin. He instructs dance moves from poolside.
After swim, a confused Calvin doesn't want to eat in the hotel restaurant. He calls his own cell phone for room service. Claire has to tell him they are home. Barney knocks on the door seeking a lady but is chased away by the husband. That night, Calvin sprays his wife's perfume to help him remember.
The next morning Claire arrives. It is Calvin's birthday. Calvin has already left for the art exhibit and Claire is frantic to find him. Finally, she finds him on a bench gazing at his favorite painting. He tells Claire even though he lost his Helen, here he is a tiny pebble surrounded by all her stars. He misses his wife in this moment of clarity. Calvin changes the mood saying he has a birthday party to attend. When he arrives, Barney hurls a string of insults at Calvin. When Barney chides him about his family absence, he throws his cake but hits Claire instead. The facility residents have a food fight. Claire gives Calvin a present in the elevator
