I had high hopes for this film. The poster looked good and the cast seemed alright. The plot I felt though was overlooked in the actual outcome. Its presented as a horror movie as two young woman come to a mansion to translate films of an actress called susu. She is played in the flashbacks by junjie mao, who does a decent enough job. Our young two woman qi'an and aimo are played by zitong wu and zhu lin. They also do a decent enough job as the main stars, though the acting called by better. They are both beautful though. Finnaly we have the head of the house. Shirley being played by steve edwin. I dont get the facial expressions in scenes but overall the film missed the mark with the horror it should have. But the acting was decent and there were some good horror elements or more thriller.

Warning: Spoilers
Hard to describe how bad this was... The plot description and the cover seemed interesting so that's why I chose to watch it.

The acting is horrendous! The actor playing the part of Shirley is the worst out of all of them. I hope he chooses a different career path soon... The plot was also complete nonsense.

Feels like it was written by a group of children.

It's all over the place and felt like they couldn't agree on an ending so they just put everyone's suggestions in.

At one point someone is taking photographs with an analog camera, in the dark, with no flash.

Just to give an example of the level of stupidity.

Don't watch this...for real...it's SO SO bad.

What is important for Netflix when they buy a movie? Bad acting, no storyline, lots of plotholes and of course most important,, stupid,, so guess Netflix must have loved Susu who is a winner in all categorys

I can like slow horror , when its smart done and creepy , Susu is just slow cause they dont have any ideas and trying to fill it out as much as possible, you lose interest pretty fast cause its so boring , mostly they fill it out with dreams wich is typical for movies without imagination

The only thing that actually is horror in Susu is probably the acting, its so horrible bad , I wonder if anyone will see this to the end, I made it to half before I gave up.

Problematic Mess

It has some nice ideas, but ultimately it was a bit of a mess. It tried to go down too many paths rather than going for fewer ideas and making them stronger. Which left a lot of plotholes.

I actually hated the character Shirley. Who is literally a man dressed as a woman, this is supposed to throw her "identity and sanity" into question. Which is problematic cheap exploitation. It casts a gross and unnecessary stain over the rest of the picture. They are disabled to add to the mess too.

None of these factors actually add to the film, and it just feels like a cheap villainisation of these characteristics. And to top it off, you could completely remove the character from the film, and still have an identical plot.

The set up had promise, but it fell flat.
