Personal film making about the sprawling hell that is LA
willyjay-806556 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
For me the theme of this downbeat film is how truly horrible Los Angeles can be when one sees it. Or lives there. That feeling is captured so brilliantly that the actors take a back seat. At any rate the movie is a slow, artsy, well-acted and believable indie that's worth a look. Contrary to what the mean reviewers say on this site, Jake is the first one to get offered a job on his scruffy charm alone. I guess they had to give it a sort-of upbeat ending after all the misery.

Very Stupid
dmilesd711 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
1) The girl had to steal money from her parents to finance her "dream." 2) The morons leave cash in the glove compartment and it gets stolen. 3) After their cash is stolen, they swim in the ocean leaving their phones on the beach. Dumb, dumb. dumb. Didn't they learn anything from a few hours earlier. 4) These idiots are the reason the gene pool should be thinned out.

This movie was stupid. If people are this idiotic, they deserve their misery.

Realistically dreamy

The kind of movies that makes you wish not to blink a second. A road trip of a young couple in the pursuit of dreams in a place where dreams might come true or break them apart. The shooting takes us into a ride of moving moments of beauty, yet projects the hardships that comes along without romantacizing nor falling into clichés.

This movie has nothing to offer, wonder why it was even produced. The acting is not great and the viewer doesn't connect with the characters.

Concentrated
magda-0752521 October 2018
Nicely integrated story built up with tight shots and a concentrated in time love story of two people captured at the beginning of their journey together.

Easy to see

Opening scene. I could tell right away that Jake is a la-la-la-la-looooooooser. Of course he wants to have a backup plan, because once the cute girl gets used to L. A. , the loser doesn't have a chance of holding onto her. Just LOOK at him!

Simple plot, but reflects life
gregglebovitz-4489010 September 2023
Sometimes you think you know people and then sometimes they surprise you, even when you think you have it all planned out. The characters seem to fit into their roles: girl with her act together and the boy loser. But in spite of the cliché plot, the boy surprises us by knowing the up and coming star at the very roots of his career, and a backup plan for saving the day. The girl on the other hand is the loser who disappoints her parents and is not worthy of the trust. Will they become another statistic to the draw of LA or will life's twists save them? The move is well played, directed, and written. It fits together and is convincing, reflecting the pre-pandemic optimism that we all use to know and love.
