A weird music video that kind of matches the weird vibe of the song.

Not chained to mediocrity

Warning: Spoilers
Let me give you the title here because then you know most of what is going on already: "Katy Perry Feat. Skip Marley: Chained to the Rhythm" We habe hyper-successful female recording artist Katy Perry's 2017 music video for the song in the title and there is a brief cameo by the man mentioned in the title, who going by name and looks must be one of Bob Marley's (grand?)children. But that is not too important as his turn is as forgettable as basically everything else you get to witness here. The music video runs for exactly 4 minites down to the second and I find it embarrassing really what Katy Perry's music has turned into. She always had a tendency to come up with bubble gum pop music, but it felt never really as pointless as this one here. At least it is not as pretentious as some other stuff she did in recent years. What a pity, I thought she released some pretty good songs earlier in her career. good thing here is that the song is at least slightly catchy occasionally and that Perry is nice to watch with her pink curly hair, even if channeling her inner Madonna may not be the best path for her. She still looks better than with her really short platinum blonde hair, but long and black is definitely key for her. By the way I just read she got engaged to Orlando Bloom? Not entirely sure about that, but honestly I don't really care either. Now why am I saying all that instead of talking about the music video and song we have at hands here? The answer is really obvious. Namely yes it is that forgettable. The rollercoaster action adds very little and this fluffy furry popcorn pink world full of skies did not make an impact on me either. says it all that I think the song is weak enough to still be uplifted by the video. But just slightly. Lyrics-wise the weakest moment is absolutely on several occasions when Perry tries to convince her listeners really verbally that this piece of mediocrity (gently-speaking) is supposed to be their new favorite song. Embarrassment galore. Thumbs up for this project and skip both the watch and listen.
