Storyline

At an appeal for the missing Jonjo, Blake causes chaos by announcing that a serial killer is at large, and Lauren must step in to prevent his removal from the case. After Evie and Kieran have told the police about their ordeal, and suspicions about Simon Marr following a text from Jonjo, Evie makes a discovery when she illegally enters the doctor's home, whilst a house to house reveals that Kieran's soldier brother Jordan is being kept alive in a comatose state by his family. Blake believes handwriting found on a newspaper next to Niall's corpse will be that of the killer, and organizes a village meeting where all male residents are asked to sign in, but it is interrupted when Annie finds Jonjo's dead body. Some great moments, but too much padding.

With Jonjo still missing, a decision is made to hold a public meeting, DCI Smilie is tight lipped, but Blake Albrighton tells the press he believes the killings are the work of a serial killer, sending the locals into a panic, and attracting the attention of the world's press. Evie probes mum Annie for information about Doctor Marr, but Annie refuses to tell her anything, prompting Evie to foolishly search his house single handedly. A dogged Annie finally discovers Jonjo, it's evident a serial killer is at work.

It's so difficult to formulate a general review after this episode, as it's so very patchy, great in parts, with some gripping moments of suspense, but then truly dull at times, leaving the viewer with a feeling that it's been stretched out over six weeks, when four would have done. A little wooden in parts, thank goodness for Siobhan Finneran, truly a cut above the rest.

The first episode was that good, I've been feeling a little short changed since. 6/10
