It's a depressing Reality show
mygamesepad23 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Watching how the very poor really live is hard to take. You would think they would try everything possible to get out of that situation and I'm sure they do try to the best of their abilities. On the flip side, the rich family, most of the mothers and fathers spending their children's youth working and not around to enjoy it. Not even a birthday party for the "rich kid" because mum and dad are off working. When the show concludes, you get an idea of why the poor remain poor and how the rich became rich. A show I would like to see would be a 1 year or some time period to review each family. Did the rich family become a little less rich but more family time? Did the poor family set and obtain any goals to help them get a little more ching in their pocket?

I love this show.

Personally I think this is a great idea. It is helpful for the poor as well as the rich. As they both learn from the experience. The kids from the poor enjoys it immensely and the rich kids realise how much they have and how privilege they are.

Bit like poverty porn

Would have been better if rather than a week, they'd swapped for a year. Really would have highlighted the differences between the rich and poor in the UK if we'd seen an episode a week covering how the different families coped for a whole year. Pretty tasteless otherwise. Shame.

Let's show poor people what they don't have.
vathraq22 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why any "poor person" would want to appear on this show. Living in extreme poverty, you get to experience a whole week with the budget of some of the most privileged people in the country.

So what happens after that week when you have to return to your old life? Do you forget all the things that you had or just imagine it was some kind of holiday that your friends and family got to watch?

Of course, you have to return home with the memory of all the things that you can't afford. The giant house with a different bathroom for each member of your family, the chance to never have to turn the heating off when it's cold because you're worried that you might not be able to pay the electric bill. Eating more than one or two ready meals a day when your fridge was empty.

Of course, it's quite the ego boost for the "rich family". Go back home and realise how much you missed your home cinema, swimming pool and hot-tub, but does it really do anything to help them appreciate their lives more?

Probably not, they don't care about poverty as long as they don't have to deal with it.

It's become tedious!!
lopezpatricia-0613911 October 2019
Same thing... a nouveau riche family invites a poor unfortunate family to show them what their life's could have been like if a little luck was on their side. It's now getting tedious and a disgusting exploitation of the hard working class, whom haven't had the breaks that the others have.

What's the point?!

This show would make more sense if the message was to viewers, at the beginning, end, and throughout the episode; "This is what you can have if you stay in school, don't be a criminal, stay away from drugs, read books!"

There are real life stories galore of people living in the worst conditions growing up to become immensely successful.

This show doesn't motivate, at all.
