Herbie Rides Again
rogerscales29 July 2019
Classic TV Historian & author Herbie J. Pilato has once again taken his vast knowledge & passion for must see definitive vintage programming to another level and medium. Your really going to get an inside look from the people that were there making it happen on programs such as My Three Sons, Dark Shadows, The Wild Wild West & a very moving tribute to legendary producer Garry Marshall. If you've enjoyed his books then give his Amazon show a shot. You won't be disappointed.

What a Fun and Enjoyable Show!
brickmeyer-864023 July 2019
I just finished the first 4 Episodes of Season 1 and absolutely loved it! I did not want the episodes to end. An hour long format would not be too long. Herbie is like a best friend next door that knows all about Classic TV and can tell you anything you wanted to know. He seems to put the guests at ease and they tell him stories that are so very wonderful and interesting. His visit with Marion Ross was marvelous, and you could see the obvious affection she had for him. I loved getting the inside information about My Three Sons from Stanley and Barry Livingston too! Just wonderful and family friendly. Watch with your family and introduce the kids to some great classic tv episodes afterward. I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed!

A Classic Show Hosted by a Class Act
cpeterson-412487 August 2019
One of the elements missing from today's talk shows is... class. And class is what Mr. Herbie J. Pilato, has - in volumes. Combine that class with the classics and you've got a hit! "Then-Again" is just what the doctor ordered. Not only do you get to view clips from your favorite shows of yesteryear, but you have the opportunity to meet and get to know the celebrities who brought the characters you love to life. Herbie's living-room style interviews and personal touch make you feel as though you're sitting there with them. My only issue? I want more time with them! I'm thrilled that "Then-Again" was picked up for a second season and can't wait to "meet" the other stars from the shows I grew up with, the shows that continue to entertain my generation, my son's generation and will continue to do so for years to come. Herbie, you've hit the mark and I'm so very excited to see what the future will bring.

Loved seeing stars from my childhood!
charlessouthaven4 July 2019
I am so glad this series exists!

I binge watched because I couldn't stop! I loved seeing the television stars from my childhood, talking about their thoughts and processes, as well as the "behind the scenes" tidbits!

Even if I had never seen some the shows the stars were on, listening to them tell about things that happened was entertaining.

On one of the episodes, two of the stars were surprised by a third, surprise guest, which was fun to see.

Herbie J. Pilato asks all the right questions.

If you want to have fun, watch this one.

Great show with nostalgic memories.
sargeropolos-128385 July 2019
Herbie J Pilato is a great host with a lot of knowledge. He has guests from shows of the past few decades. The guests are interviewed and they reminisce about their time on the shows. They share memories and tell stories of the shows, and of co-stars that were also on the shows.

I look forward to future episodes and seasons.

My kind of show here!
buddygott-0075125 July 2019
As a lifetime TV lover who grew up watching shows from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, this is definitely my kind of show here. It's very fun to see the stars of so many classic series that I loved talking about their experiences on those shows. Also, host Herbie J Pilato does a great job here. His love and respect for classic television and the people involved in making it is very evident. He's the perfect host for this show.

I hope to see this series continue for a very long time.

2 Thumbs Up Herbie J Pilato!!
jlynnp-1149829 July 2019
Ok, first let me say that I am not a "Baby Boomer." I was not born in the 1950s, 1960s or 1970s, those core years when "Classic TV" came into being. Nope. I arrived later. But that doesn't stop me from appreciating and absolutely LOVING "Then Again with Herbie J Pilato," which celebrates the TV shows and stars of those eras. In fact, it's BECAUSE of "Then Again with Herbie J Pilato" that I now "get it" about classic series like "My Three Sons," "The Wild Wild West," and "Batman," and more. The stars of those shows, among others, appear on "Then Again," and share insight into their lives and careers in a way that is interesting because of Herbie J Pilato. He seems to bring out the best in his guests, without fawning over them. Who knew that TV could be as sincere, educational and as fun to watch for the mainstream? "Classic TV" is no longer just a niche market. "Then Again" and its affable host proved that. Herbie J is smart, but not in a condescending way. His humility shines through. He doesn't monopolize the conversations he conducts with his guests. And he also happens to be easy on the eyes, which never hurts. (What a smile!). What's not to love about "Then Again with Herbie J Pilato," and when can I see more?

Seeing the guest stars of beloved TV shows made "Then Again" fun.
creativeexplorer30 August 2019
I really enjoyed seeing the guest stars of older hit TV series candidly sharing great stories about working on their show. Watched all four episodes. My Three Sons -- I had the biggest crush on Chip. The Wild Wild West -- creative show with great storytelling. Garry Marshall -- awesome, talented man who deserves every tribute made to him (also love Marion Ross). Dark Shadows -- a big part of my childhood. In the summer after an afternoon of swimming, we would change and go in my friend's basement to watch Dark Shadows together while eating bologna sandwiches. Fond memories. The interviews brought back these memories and I loved to hear about their experiences as well as sharing great memories about other actors that are no longer with us. I did remove one star because I thought the opening story that was shown on every episode about the host did not add to the show -- give more time for the interviews with the stars.

Extremely Well Done Addition to TV History
forwardintothepast20 July 2019
Herbie J Pilato is an excellent interviewer and he knows how to let his guests tell their stories without interrupting -- an increasingly rare skill among talk show hosts. This show is a great behind-the-scenes look at classic television programs, and the interview segments are augmented with very interesting and rare film clips and photographs. I'm eager to see more episodes in the future, as this is a valuable and entertaining contribution to television history.

A one-of-a-kind retro talk show
CK-Jacobus28 July 2019
Herbie J Pilato's "Then Again" is a nostalgic look back at classic TV shows from the 60s, 70s, and 80s with a chance to hear the backstory from the stars themselves. It's fun to hear how the actors came to be cast and learn what happened behind the scenes (such as Robert Conrad's stunt work in "The Wild Wild West"). I especially liked seeing Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker, and David Selby of "Dark Shadows" together again. Others Pilato interviews include Barry Livingston and Stanley Livingston of "My Three Sons," Marion Ross of "Happy Days," and Eddie Mekka and Cindy Williams of "Laverne & Shirley."

Preserving the Values of Classic TV
ChristopherPufall29 July 2019
I was so glad to see "Then Again With Herbie J Pilato" added to the lineup of entertaining and informative offerings on Amazon Prime. Having grown up watching the stars and shows featured in its first four episodes, this fun, engaging program effortlessly transported me back to a time that was fresh with possibility and excitement for the variety and depth television could offer.

Each episode Herbie presents in this series covers groundbreaking paragons of TV content and talent that laid the foundation -- and raised the bar of quality -- for countless shows that followed over the years. As I watched each episode, they progressively became more compelling, all the way through to my favorite thus far: the tribute to Garry Marshall.

As a well-regarded classic TV historian ("The Classic TV Preservation Society") and an accomplished author in the space of television, Herbie naturally conveys credibility and passion for the medium. He gracefully engages with guests to unwrap treasured history and reveal new insights; an occasional quiz adds to the fun factor. The studio looks warm and welcoming in its accommodations, a place conducive to relaxed, thoughtful discussion and one where the audience imagines themselves right alongside -- an extension of their own home, as it were.

The show is a lively learning experience and a celebration of the values, the people, and the spirit that blazed a trail for television in prior decades. By revisiting the magic of these shows, "Then Again" rekindles the flame within those of us who had their formative years and dreams enlivened by the wondrous fantasy-machine of classic television. Furthermore, the show provides an important service to a broader audience in educating about the pioneers and history of the medium of television.

My hope is "Then Again With Herbie J Pilato" continues the magic with more seasons (and perhaps longer episodes), as there are too many great stories yet to be shared for a primed and ready audience that is hungry for more, and for new viewers awaiting to discover this series' treats.

Then Again with Herbie J Pilato... Love,Love this show!!
dheywood-6706426 July 2019
I absolutely love this show. It brings back so many great memories. It feels like I've gone back in time and I'm hanging out with my parents watching and enjoying these great old shows. My wife came in the room when I was viewing this show and asked me why I had such a big smile on my face? She then sat down with me and started smiling too. I'm familiar with Herbie J through his books, so I knew that I enjoyed his style and his compassion towards classic tv and it's actors. What I really liked was Herbie J's conversations with his guests. He knows what to ask and then listens. It's so refreshing to have a host not interrupt and genuinely wants to hear what the actors have to say. Herbie J seems to be tailor made for this show by making me feel like I'm right there with them. I can't wait for more episodes of Then Again with Herbie J Pilato... keep up the good work Mr Pilato !
