Father. Mayor. Green Arrow.
hawkins_saints_rock20 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Arrow has easily had the best start to the season out of all the shows, and this is coming from a guy who is a major Flash fan. This episode was phenomenal, it had everything in it from irony (William with the Flash bag), to DC Easter eggs (Bruce Wayne), to great action scenes with an exciting plot. So on to the details of the episode.

Team Flash were in trouble this week with Oliver supposedly being outed as the Green Arrow. Of course Oliver denied it so the techies of Team Arrow spent their time digitally enhancing the photo, while the lawful side of Team Arrow spent their time dealing with the media and FBI. Was as stressful as an episode for Team Arrow that I've ever seen. Could ARGUS not do something to get the FBI off Oliver's back?

The Bratva and Anatoly were back as the villain of the week, and man David Nykl put together one hell of a performance as a version of Anatoly we've never really seen before. He was extremely intimidating, and has established himself as a legitimate threat to Oliver and Team Arrow. I have no doubt he will appear a few more times this season. Wonder if they can get their friendship back?

Digs' yips were a big focus of this weeks episode as we learn that it's not necessarily the yips but more so a nerve damage injury, which is affecting his performance. Dig has kept this from everyone on Team Arrow since the island explosion 5 months ago. He finally confessed his problem to Dinah as she was almost killed because of his inability to fire a weapon. And we just know the longer he keeps this from the rest of them the worse the reaction will be.

Oliver this week had a threefold struggle between being a parent, being the mayor, and being the Green Arrow. I must say that in the end he did a pretty good job balancing the three. But it is evident that this threefold struggle will continue for the rest of the season. Will he be able to keep it under control? Probably not something will give...which leads me to my next point.

At the end of the episode, Oliver spoke to John about potentially hanging up the cowl and giving it John to permanently be the Green Arrow. This was a good cliffhanger with John seemingly accepting the role, despite his injury. But we know that the show Arrow will not go on without Oliver Queen as the Green Arrow. So somehow Oliver will change his mind, whether that's his own choice or he's forced to I'm not sure. Also the photo of Oliver as the Green Arrow was publicly revealed to be a fake, which I wasn't a fan of. I can't remember how many times Oliver has been outed as the Green Arrow but it's been found to be "not true". Wonder when the show will finally have the guts to permanently out Oliver?

An awesome episode this week and it looks like Arrow is continuing the high quality display from Season 5. 9.2/10

I'm Not the Man You Think I Am
ThomasDrufke21 October 2017
It's weird that a mention of Bruce Wayne is hardly the most talked about thing coming out of that Arrow episode, instead it's the fact that Oliver has retired from being the Green Arrow…..again. I understand it's difficult for network television shows to stay fresh with 23 episodes a season and now that we are 6 seasons in. How many times has he had to say "I'm not the man you think I am"? However, I'm just tired of two things with this show. One, having the police contradict themselves every single time Green Arrow does something questionable (or is framed for something) and having an all out attack on him, even though he's done so much good for the city. And the other being a storyline involving Oliver being outed as the Green Arrow himself. How many times have we gone through that now? Whether it be Susan, Captain Lance (twice), and now a mysterious figure leaking the image of him wearing the suit. It's just getting old.

With all that said, this episode was better than I thought it would be. It's far from where the show left off last year, but it's been an okay start to the season. The biggest impression in this episode was left by the newly added Samanda Watson (Sydelle Noel), who's playing another foil for Ollie, an FBI Agent investigating him for being the hood. She didn't have a whole lot to work with in the episode, but I thought Noel certainly has made room for herself in this ensemble cast. We'll see where that goes.

One of the things I quite enjoyed was the throwback to an old fashion crime episode. Season 1 was all about Team Arrow (mostly just Ollie & Dig) solving crimes around Star(ling) City. There was a good amount of mystery behind who leaked the photo, and I found the investigation aspect of it to be quite intriguing. And yes, there was a part of me that believed Adrian Chase had something to do with it. Interestingly enough, this kinda/sorta spawned Felicity & Curtis' idea to start their own company. I realize that's not what most fans want, more time spent with Felicity, but I don't mind it. As long as its only played as a background plot point and not something that will bring Helix into the fold. Sadly, I think the latter is inevitable either way, but I'm not entirely opposed to seeing the two nerds of the show have something else to do this year.

The one character who never seems to have his own arc (besides the god awful Andy subplot), is Mr. John Diggle. He's always been the guy standing in the background with his arms folded and waiting to give Ollie some much needed advice. Well, that's all going to change now that Oliver has given up the GA mantel and handed it over to Diggle. This story will most likely end with William giving his father the go- ahead to put on the suit again, but I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts. Actually, it's not really even something I'm probably going to enjoy, considering the last time Oliver hung up the suit and let Team Arrow take over was the questionable gap between season 3 and 4, but also the really rough arc of episodes after 'The Climb'. It's safe to say that this show needs Amell as our hero. But I'm at least interested in seeing David Ramsey's approach now that he's dealing with nerve damage in his shoulder. Not really sure how you can shoot a bow and arrow with nerve damage.

Anatoly's return was less than impressive. I'm at the point of just not caring every time he shows up. The conflict he brings always seems inconsequential, especially because it wasn't even him who leaked the photo. So in all, the main conflict of the episode wasn't what I was interested in. I hate the identity crisis' every year and I really don't like Anatoly's presence anymore. I'm more fascinated to see how all of this plays into future episodes. Oliver as a full time father/mayor? There has be a specific reason why the writers went this route. In season 3, it was a way to get the team a new hideout instead of in a random warehouse. What's the reason this time?

Bratva Beatdown

With its premiere being somewhat disappointing, "Tribute" managed to forward the story a bit, but it still felt like it lacked any substance to fit into a bigger picture. Villains have not yet been properly introduced and the fallout that last years villain caused never was touched upon. The return of old faces and the return of fresh, awesome fight scenes elevated "Tribute" above "Fallout", but not by much.

6.2 Tribute -- Awesome New Arrow Format
betterbuddy20 October 2017
Honestly, this episode had everything. This week continued to establish this season's story-line theme/plot direction with Oliver playing "dad" now and the focus on "family" this season. It was also a very enjoyable Oliver - centered episode with great scenes with the team. There was great team interaction throughout both in action scenes and just team bonding scenes! With that being said, this was the first episode without flashbacks this season, and the extra time was given to amazing/enjoyable team interaction scenes. The moments between Oliver, Quentin, and Rene were my favorite. But the scene between Agent Watson, Quentin, and Rene was so enjoyable. And, I can never get enough of Oliver and Dig discussions. This episode mentioned some great past Arrow history moments -- specifically the polygraph that Oliver took back in S1- Damaged. There was great action, great one-liners, and enjoyable character moments. 10/10 - great episode to re-watch over and over.

Arrow - S06E02 Tribute
j_forbesy19 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After last week's premieres, Arrow was off to the best start of all the CW superhero shows. It started off so strong that I was hoping they could back it up again this week.

This episode followed through big time. Starting from the new Team Arrow logos, this episode didn't have a low point. Everything flowed really well and really started to get into the themes of what I think this season is going to be and that is Oliver trying to move one from his like as the Green Arrow.

Something that really stood at to me as a massive positive was the writing of the dialog. There were so many quips and good one liners mixed in with meaningful sections that gave the overall dialog a really well balance between the grounded superhero show Arrow is and the fun side that superhero shows can be.

The return of Anatoly was great. I have really enjoyed him in past seasons and by the looks of it we might be getting a whole lot more of him this season. I think David Nykl does a really good job with the character when walking that line of being a friend while still being a foe.

We have gotten a fair few different types of relationships across these CW superhero shows but this is the first were we have had to see the building of a relationship between one of our heroes and their child. I'm really liking the direction they are taking this Oliver and William relationship because it appears that it will be a key force in this season going forward. I had some concerns with the actor who plays William but I think he did enough this episode that he will be able to hold his own for the most part.

On Arrow, Diggle is my favourite character so it is really great to see him getting an interesting plot line. I'm liking the back and forth he is having with Diana because it's not often that he isn't the voice of reason in a conversation. Going forward, now that he has accepted the hood of the Green Arrow, I'm really interested to see what comes of his problems and what his conversations with Diana looks like going forward.

Into something I was mixed about this episode was the new character of Samantha Watson. I really liked the actress Sydelle Noel in GLOW and I think she fits the detective role really well. I thought she was written really well this episode and her scene with Lance and Renee was one of my favourite of the episode. My concern however is with what they are going to do with the character. They brought her on quite strong with little evidence on Oliver and based off that she is sticking around despite the evidence being shown as fake. To me, her presence was warranted but I don't want her to be hanging around when she is the only one believing that Oliver is the Green Arrow.

What was my only real negative this episode was the resolution of the photo. While the anonymous photo to begin with isn't enough to lock Oliver up for good, it is understandable that the media would jump all over it. However, I don't think an anonymous source proving it is false was enough to dismiss the photo. While we don't know what their proof was, the way it played out was the there was no investigation into their proof like there was into the original photo.

Overall, which I had a few concerns, this is a near perfect follow up to last week's premiere. I'm really excited to see where this season is going to go based off the opening two episodes of the season.

Much improved since the last episode
jadielndlima20 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The last episode of arrow was not the best season premiere, but this one episode did return the animation q I had before watching the episode 5x01. It was really a great episode, from great dialogues like Oliver and William chatting in the car about him getting into a fight (or having taken a beating), up to good action scenes like when Oliver and the team will rescue the hostages of Anatoly. This episode may have shown what will happen this season. Anatoly will be the great villain from this season? And who will have leaked Oliver's picture? Cheered up for the next episode.

No. More. Repeats!
lassegalsgaard-4528417 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There have been so many seasons of "Arrow" now, so it should not come as a surprise that the writers might have a hard time coming up with new and interesting ways to entertain us. I like that seasons always have something familiar and that it has the balls to try something new, but without making it too remote from what we know and love. However, I will say that some things are not worth repeating, especially if they worked so well the first time. This episode repeats something that was a big part of Season 3, and while that season was not that memorable, I do think that particular storyline was riveting enough, so I didn't like they were doing it again here. And it seems like they are going forward with it, so even though I enjoyed this episode a lot, I am still very scared of what the writers are going to do in the upcoming episodes.

Overall, I think this was a very enjoyable episode of "Arrow" and while it was not as good as the premiere, it definitely kept up the momentum. One of the things that I really loved about this episode, is that it feels like the showrunners have a plan of where to go with the storylines. They set up this very cool plot with Diggle and his injury, and it really made for some great tension between him and Dinah, who is really stepping up to her plate this season. I love the brother/sister relationship they are setting up between them, and hope that they do a lot more with it.

The new relationship that is being formed between Oliver and Anatoly is also quite good. Anatoly is being set up as someone who is going to be a tough opponent for Oliver, and I like that. We have seen their relationship as friends, so I am very excited to see where this leads. I don't think that he is going to be the main bad guy, but I do think he is going to have a presence, much like Deadshot had in the earlier seasons, just a bit more riveting and thrilling to see. The things that he was willing to do in this episode alone, sets up the fact that is going to be someone to face.

They are also currently setting up someone for Oliver Queen to look out for, and that is the FBI agent Samanda Watson. At first, I didn't know what to think of her, and I still really don't, but I do think that she is going to be someone that Oliver with have a hard time with, and I love it whenever he has to face people without the hood. I still don't know what to think about her acting, but I do think that the character will improve and have some great scenes with Oliver. I am also excited to see what Oliver is going to do as mayor now that he has someone on his back from the FBI.

But even though the episode did a great job of setting up characters for the future, there is one character that they still can't get right. William is still a useless character and his entire role in this show is non-existent. And now, he has set something in motion, that we have seen over-and-over again. The fact that Oliver doesn't want to be Arrow anymore, because he has to focus on his family, is such a cliché. We have seen this before in many of the past seasons, and I really don't like that they are going in the same direction again. I hope that they change things and that they get back on track, before they go down this same road, that is so uninteresting.

The big thing in this episode is that the public are now aware that Oliver Queen is the Arrow. Or, not really, because they quickly retconned it in the very same episode. I still think that was a mistake, because it is something that we have seen done better before. I had no interest in having that storyline retold, even though I get why they did it. I think that the upcoming episodes will give a better insight into what all of this mean, because it wasn't really settled by the end of this episode. I hope they will give a good explanation for what happened, and then never mention it again.
