The film's main action is based on a real-life experience of the lead actor and director, Vi Ji, being stuck overnight inside his high school 3 years prior. However, the circumstances are completely different. His other source of inspiration for making this film is stealth video games.
Although not mentioned as or credited so, this is Pratheeban's first appearance as the character Security Guard Kumar, which he is set to reprise in future projects, including a potential standalone comedy-thriller film in development.
Besides playing the character of New Security, Pratheeban has also done additional photography, filming the scene of Amisha and Viji meeting behind the college residence.
The college residence scene following the flashback was completely improvised, blocked and filmed within less than an hour. Thus, it is one of the scenes Vi Ji is most proud of.
In the final scene, Amisha lambastes Viji's film, with her first couple of points making sense, while the other two being very subjective. Vi Ji decided to go for a meta feel in the ending, not only to leave the characters room to have a similar adventure in their reality (which is implied with the final 'Update/Scan' title card), but to also partially acknowledge the many mistakes that are left in the movie in a self-deprecating manner. Viji also notes that this is the first rough cut, meaning that the film as shown up till the end of the climax fight is not fully polished. This adds more to the purpose of the meta-ending. While in post-production, when Vi Ji shared the files for editing among the two other editors credited, some files were misplaced. This included many of the good takes of a few sequences, especially during the scene inside the college at midnight, as well as most of the dialogue portions of the climax scene after Viji ties up Chatura, where the latter explains in full detail what his 'business' is. In hope that they can find it and edit and release an updated edition in the future. Vi Ji and the editors are still on the search for those lost takes.
