A underrated Brazilian animated gem
reijulienfan8 November 2021
The years 2010 was a decade where several Brazilian cartoons were produced, one was watchable, while others were simply terrible (like the CN shows). Under Undergrounds on the other hand it was one of the few Brazilian cartoons that I found decent to watch. Although the quality of the animation is not the best (after all, the animation industry in Brazil is still growing) this series has a good art style, plot and decent characters. Além do mais, Under Undergrounds it has an amazing soundtrack with great songs (made by the same person that worked in The Boy and the World) and also references to famous musicians and bands in the characters' names. I also have to mention that the comedy is also decent and there were several moments where I thought it was funny. This cartoon showed an evolution in the Brazilian animation industry.

A precious cartoon

Although it may not seem as brilliant as others, The Under Undergrounds has taken the spot lights between 2010s Brazilian cartoons with a good plot, decent work on character development and many references to musicians all around the globe. And as its topic the songs are quite good and can be appreciated at any moment without the context of the episode. The series unfortunately didn't receive a proper ending, it ended at season 2 with a forced finale, and didn't get completely dubbed in english, but what it remains may be taken as great. The animation quality isn't the best but it can be seen as a pattern in many other Brazilian cartoons of the decade.
