Casting 'Carrie' (2016)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Casting agent Harriet Helberg has been apart of many movies but you've got to say her crowning achievement has to be Brian DePalma's CARRIE and especially when you consider how many talented young actors were looked at. Helberg does a very good job at going into details of a casting agent and she talks about the difficulty in finding some of the parts and how this film was casting at the same time as STAR WARS. We hear about the battle over the role of Carrie and we also hear stories like how Nancy Allen failed her original test. We also learn that Louise Fletcher was originally going to play Carrie's mom and also Sandra Locke was in consideration for Carrie. This here is another well-produced featurette that shines a light on the casting of the movie. You have to really give the woman credit because there are so many memorable roles and performances in the film that you can't help but think her job was perfectly done.
