Great Filler Episode
toubas1411 November 2016
"The Room Where It Happens" is very good episode... Maybe one of the best the 13th season has offered so far...

Yes, the pace is slow...

Yes, the first 10 minutes or so, are boring...

Yes, this episode is a filler and serves no actual purpose to the main story...

The great writing and the even greater acting though, worth our time...The new faces, the familiar faces, the use of great flashbacks and the final song (All Of Your Glory by Broods) only make it better...

I always loved Grey's Anatomy for its special episodes and this one is no exception...

Freaky Flashbacks
ZegMaarJus11 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Meredith, she is preparing herself for a surgery during night. Meredith performs a surgery together with Owen, Richard and Stephanie. Owen wants to open the chest of the patient during the surgery. Owen has flashbacks of his sister during the surgery. Meredith has flashbacks of the moment that Derek died. Solid Episode of Grey's Anatomy Season 13, this was not a good Episode. It was not a usual Episode of Grey's Anatomy. I keep liking the regular ones with the drama but this was not the level of Episodes that i expected from this Series. I hope the rest of this Season will be better!

A unique episode

Once in a while, Grey's Anatomy has the courage of leaving behind its usual soapy format and takes a risk. One room, 4 surgeons, 1 patient, and one great episode.

Great one.

This is a great episode. Loved the visual effects as they weave in and out of time in each character's own mind.

It was touching on all fronts, and helped unveil each surgeon's past as well as brought a sense of humanity and closeness that is much needed.

Richard's and Meredith's stories were melancholic and brought tears to my eyes.

All in all, superb episode. It drew me in like as if I was in the room with them.

Ten out of ten for this. I hope Shonda Rhimes makes more episodes that are as intimate as this.

One of the Series Best
mrrbiu-93-68932222 October 2017
This episode brought me back. I'm an old man, but I have watched almost 250 episodes in the past year. It is also the TV I watch. It hurt when George left. It hurt when Derek left. Bug the quality of the show remained rather good (other stories, cases, well directed and acted). But nothing jarring, in my opinion, until "The Room Where It Happens.." I loved the static set (the OR). I found the acting incredible, among the best of the entire series, and the use of flashbacks and imagery especially well directed. Kudos to the program for making this episode, taking us away from some of the monotony of the soap opera stories in the series. If you are moved to tears in the last ten minutes, you have no heart. None.

Seriously? Boring and a waste of time. Worst episode ever :(
angelhardt29 November 2016
Sorry to disagree, but this must have been the worst filler ever - and I've seen them ALL. Just when I thought the series was getting better again after McDreamy, Mc Steamy, Lexie, Christina and Callie left. So far in season 13 I had been happy that the storyline was not drifting off to secondary characters but focused on Meredith, Miranda, Alex and Webber. I was hooked (something they've failed to accomplished in a long time) and was looking forward to another episode and wanted to follow the past weeks' developments - when they dropped this meaningless filler in between - so frustrating! This episode was not only implausible and boring, but interrupted the entire quality of season 13. Are the writers lacking ideas for the script? Maybe then it is time to call it before we get more disappointed. The characters have so much more potential, what a waste of time.

Beautiful

I loved this episode! The change of pace was really timely and I thought each actor held their own, able to meet each other with they same intensity and passion. The story was held through with the music and felt in every way. The banter between Owen and his sister and Stephanie and her younger self matched with the heaviness of both Webber and Gray's take aways, well balanced and beautiful. I wish they would do more episodes like this so we could intimately meet each character!

Fantastic
hanish-0854214 November 2016
Yes, as filler episode, but powerful, emotional and incredible acting make this episode one of the best i've seen.

The episode starts slowly, but really builds into an emotion packed masterpiece. Brilliant acting and writing combined wreaks havoc on the tear ducts and brings back memories long lost... Season 13 has been rather slow to gain pace and with this latest episode, I have no doubt that it will improve. Would love to see more of this, reminds me of more classic Grey's episodes.

This is why Grey's is still my favourite TV show!

Wonderful

Best episode of the season so far
bigua_jltb22 May 2020
This show has never taken us so close to an OR before this episode, with cuts so precise and images so vivid

They also excelled at creating a live painting of the fantasy of thought. While giving us flashbacks, we were able to see better how their minds work.

One off
kg-9180514 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I hate when they throw in a one off episode, this is one of the worst ever.

Four surgeons having flashbacks while butchering a patient.

Meredith goes over Derek's death.

Owen sees his sister.

Edwards sees her young self.

Webber his mother.

The keep stopping to chat while the patient bleeds.

So unreal.

This has no relevance to the themes of the series, seems like they are delaying ready for the mid season finale.

Absolutely stunning episode. One of the most moving episodes of the series. Outstanding writing and acting, and a nice change of pace for the season. Brought me to tears.

Terrible episode.
m-4782623 June 2020
This is why doctors in the show would never have a licence in real life. They just aren't professionals, they keep letting their emotions get the best of them. And their patients. And don't get me started on writers, trying to shove down viewers throats, a certain idea of achievement. And normalcy. It's everything that's wrong with the show lately, in a nutshell.

Don't give up
aswin-barath9 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The surgeons don't give up saving a patient in this episode justifying the line "We did everything we could". Webber states the importance of getting personal with the patient which makes a surgeon better.

My Favourite moments: For the first time, the series shows how an Operation Room is prepped for surgery. From a different angle Four main characters: Hunt, Grey, Edwards and Webber imagine talking with their loved ones and their younger selves while operating on a patient with many challenges.

Worst Episode So Far
odiebeau30 March 2022
I ended up skipping this episode halfway through. Boring and pointless, doesn't even make sense.

I love Grey's but this was like the regular writers all took a holiday at the same time.

The whole time I wanted to punch Webber to make him stop talking. Exhausting.
