Making Body Snatchers
Re-Visitors from Outer Space, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Pod (2007)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
This sixteen-minute featurette from Shout Factory! takes archival interviews to piece together the making of 1978's INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS. Star Donald Sutherland, director Philip Kaufman, co-star Veronica Cartwright, cinematographer Michael Chapman and screenwriter W.D. Richter are interviewed about their ideas for bringing out a remake to an already popular movie.
If you're a fan of the film then you'll enjoy these interviews, which were obviously filmed at different times but they're edited together in a good way to where the featurette really does a nice job at talking about a variety of subjects. These include why a remake was needed and there's also some nice discussion about an early test screening and what the studio wanted removed from the picture.
