Taylor is shown possessing a handgun as soon as her probation for her second DUI was over. While a term of her probation may have been to disallow her possessing a firearm for what Massachusetts considers a misdemeanor, under federal law the Massachusetts DUI law is such that even one DUI conviction makes the person ineligible to possess a firearm. The fact that she spent over a year in confinement would make her a felon under federal law for the purposes of gun possession.
In one of the scenes Taylor is shown Voice Recording the Probation Officer without his knowledge in a attempt to try and get a confession. It is illegal in Massachusetts to record a telephone call or a conversation with another person unless you first obtain their consent to do so. Wiretap law in Massachusetts is one of the if not the most restrictive in the nation.
As a convicted felon, Taylor would not be allowed to visit a prison.
The scene involving the police officer outside Taylor's home would have resulted in severe liability for the officer and his department, as it was witnessed by several neighbors. Officers can only detain people if they are suspected of committing a crime. Unlawful detention under color of authority of law is a federal civil rights violation and is investigated by the US Department of Justice.
All modern cars such as the one with the daughter in the trunk have large yellow handles that will open the trunk from the inside to avoid accidental entrapment. Accordingly, the daughter could not have been trapped inside the trunk as shown.
A character comments that Taylor was a felon. In Massachusetts at the time of her arrest, second offense DUI and possession of 1/4 ounce of marijuana are/were both misdemeanor offenses. Under 1 ounce of marijuana was decriminalized in late 2016.
The probation officer tells Taylor it was her second DUI and she blew a "1.2". A breath alcohol level of 1.2 percent would be fatal. The amount was actually .12 percent, which is above the limit for any US state. All U.S. states have a limit of .08 percent.
