Sad to see Lady Felicia leave, but this is a cracking episode.
Sleepin_Dragon18 January 2018
Father Brown is a dinner guest at the home of Lady Malmort, a beautiful house which contains a wonderful, but dangerous maze. The morning after the dinner, the maid Ruby, a disgraced woman who had a child out of wedlock is found dead. Prime Suspect is Lady Felicia's wild niece Bunty, who had befriended Ruby and gifted her an expensive still.

An excellent start to series five, such a clever plot, with an intriguing killing and a great set of characters, most notably Lady Malmort, brilliantly played by Frances Barber. I'm very sad to see Nancy Carroll leave the show, Lady Felicia's one of the highlights of the show, fortunately she'll return later on. Bunty is a great new character, feisty and different to what we've had before. This is one of the best, loved it.

Fine episode and touching denouement
SPLeo19 November 2023
The last two minutes of this made me surprisingly emotional. It's a fine episode with an intriguing story, although I am not convinced that the motive for the murder is strong enough.

Nevertheless, the high point comes right at the end, long after the story threads have been tied together.

I won't spoil it for people who have not seen it, but provided you have got to know the characters you will understand why this pulls at the heartstrings. Even better, it does it without drifting into cheap sentiment.

Someone should have commissioned a series with these two. It would have been a ratings winner.

Bunty is introduced
safenoe21 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Emer Kenny makes her Father Brown debut as Bunty, Lady Felicia's wayward niece. This is Lady Felicia's last regular appearance, although she makes more regular appearances later on thankfully. Sid is missing, and his disappearance isn't explained until later in the season.

The Labryinth of the Minotaur is worth watching for the intrigue and how Bunty ingratiates herself into the Father Brown Scooby gang Anyway, this season has fifteen episodes, unlike the usual 10 episodes. I'm enjoying watching the earliesh seasons of Father Brown, along with Magnum, P. I. and Law and Order, supplemented by Superstore.

Warning: Spoilers
A young man meets the woman he is to marry and her intellect and heart surpasses his expectations. We meet a new character in this episode who adds youth and heart to the group of sleuths. And alas we say good bye to a loved character.

This episode has LOTS of....

....very sweet eye candy. In particular Claudia Jessie. No matter how frumpy the wardrobe people may try to dress her, they cannot hide that kind of beauty!

I think Emer Kenny will make a fine replacement for Nancy Carroll in the looks department. But who is going to do the screaming when a corpse is discovered now? Definitely not in Bunty's character to act that way.

The Labyrinth of the Minotaur
Prismark1019 May 2018
Changes are afoot at Kembleford. Lady Felicia is going to new pastures in Rhodesia but not before she lets out her last scream and introduces to Father Brown her wayward niece, Bunty.

Bunty soon leaps into action when housemaid Ruby is found dead in the stately home of Davina Malmort. This comes at a bad time for Lady Malmort as she was hoping her rebellious son would marry the studious daughter of self made vulgar millionaire Norman Vanderlande.

Father Brown is unsure if Ruby meant to kill herself or was pushed. She was unhappy at the household and was planning to leave. However he discovers that Lady Malmort had another son and there is a dark underground labyrinth.

This is a pleasant mystery but probably too easily resolved. Bunty is a good addition to the cast who gives Inspector Mallory the runaround.

Enter Bunty, exit Lady felicity
coltras3523 July 2022
Bunty, Lady Felicia's niece, is suspected of murder while being looked after by Father Brown. This is Lady Felicity's farewell episode but I think Bunty is a good replacement, adding a youthful energy. This is a good episode, if a little confusing.

Bunty (aka Nancy drew) for Lady Felicia? Really?? And, exit Sid? Downward spiral. The show's chemistry is lost.
