Since this is the episode six of thirteen, this is a review not only of this episode, but of the first half of the season. And my impression is the same for both - there are some good bits and ideas, but everything is too stretched and contains too much filler. This is not a comedy, or not a very good one anyway. It is a light-hearted drama with some jokes. But the jokes are few and far between, and sometimes just not funny. Still, the series so far has just enough to keep me watching, although it has almost as much things that are annoying. Eleanor's character is pretty inconsistent, swinging from being a terrible person to making unbelievable changes into a better one, then again reverting back to her unlikable self.
Throughout the season so far there is a very strong feeling that this Good place is not what it says it is. Too many characters there seem like they are not exactly heaven material. A twist is expected, but the lead up to it is too slow and filled with meaningless stuff. I expect that the twist will come at the end of this season, but I'm also afraid that up to that point we will have to put up with more boring filler. Of course, maybe there is no twist, maybe the whole thing is exactly what it says on the tin, but that would make less sense.
