The Death Camp blues
HorrorFilmHellion28 October 2022
The positive rating stacking on this one is misleading. This is low quality amateur snooze. Well, for cheap entry fare it's not at the very bottom of the barrel. The actors are decent to look at; some decent looking people and make-up gets a nod. Even get a skin shot or two, which doesn't make this a good movie by any means, but just something daring can go a long way when the risk of dozing off is real. The script rings hollow and is nothing you aren't expecting. It is low quality, and although executed ok (for typical bait and switch listings), it's just kind of dull, boring, and wooden for the whole experience. Movies like this really help me to appreciate the more creative or exploitive cabin-in-woods genre films.

Bad is too kind
okpilak29 December 2022
A low budget indie movie does not have to be a stinker but this one certainly is. The opening scene of the hostage situation was beyond absurd. I do have to wonder if any of them ever watched any movie with a hostage situation. It was both pathetic and comedic. It is at the scene of the stand off with Norman Esner, who murdered an entire high school class, then delivers himself to Satan. Go 20 years later, and a young group plans to hold a seance at the cabin of Norman Esner. Several consider themselves witches. They find the cabin boarded up, but still having electricity. Also, they find things that any police department would have removed in investigating the murders. And a VHS tape showing the murders surfaces. There is one scene of a person driving a car that starts to fill up with smoke. If one is on a narrow remote dirt road and the car fills with smoke, a good idea might be to stop. He didn't. It just reinforces the sloppiness of the entire film. For the rave reviews, I wonder if they saw the same movie? I tried to find any acting talent, but couldn't. Acting is not simply reading the words of the script.

What?
gryphonsatyr12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie has a "so bad it's good" quality for most of it.. I laughed a lot at the delivery and the acting.

But then, at the end... all the main characters just die off screen, narrated by some dude who just appears a few minutes before, and then there's some stupid epilogue and it just ends.

It's like they ran out of time and just phoned in the ending. Made me have major sad face. Was gonna give it two or three stars for comedic value, but nope. One star for the ending. They needed to spend the time to actually kill the kids off one by one instead of that rushed ending, and that man and his kids were superfluous.

Produced during the Covid pandemic
jordantatescreenwriter3 November 2022
Made in the challenging conditions of the Covid pandemic, "Death Camp" is a low budget horror film revolving around demonic possession. The young actors are talented, the scenes with the villain (Norman) are good. (The atmosphere in the dark room is very well done, grim and creepy, more than the various characters death scenes which is certainly due to the fact that what we don't show but suggest through tense dialogue is more frightening. )The difficult conditions of the shooting which had to be stopped then resumed are undoubtedly the cause of the flaws in the film. It's important that people know that producing and directing an independent film often is an uphill battle and we must recognize the efforts put into the feature film by the director, the screenwriter and the actors all united to finish the project. A team effort that deserves respect.

Death Camp >>> Dude, Where's My Car
kaikaldro-1947614 November 2023
I've never laughed harder during the proverbial "uh oh, y'all are done for" moment when the group of kids get stranded or trapped in a slasher flick.

"Hey dude, isn't that your car driving off?". Brilliant.

The blood and guts are great per usual, but I've always latched onto the quirky out-of-left-field moments in horror films a la; the ice cream and chicken farmer scenes in The Devil's Rejects. Death camp is full of those with loads of personality and manages to reinterpret a lot of the formulaic slasher moments in funny, bizarre, unpredictable, but first & foremost entertaining ways.

Where a lot of horror movies fall flat for trying too hard to be shocking and edgy, this one succeeds in simply aspiring to entertain.

Looking forward to more hits from this creative team and screenwriter Lisa Marie Brennan.

The Dark Master
nogodnomasters2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The film starts in 1995 with Norman Esner (Bill Oberst Jr.) or Ester in one letter, holding a girl hostage Linda Hamilton (Maddie Lee) after killing or "freeing" 20 teens at the camp before the system can get control of them. He takes his own life and claims he will resurrect which only happens in "B" films.

Years later a group of hot wiccans and the geek squad decide to go to the cabin and hold a seance. Meghan's (Aria Sirvaitis) mother owns the place and she lifted the keys. Of course nothing goes as planned. The film was a throw back to the 1980's slashers. It even starts off with grainy film. It included gag names in addition to Terminator girl, Linda Hamilton, Officer Janet Reno, Tamron Hallstorm, Ted Krayzinski and Officer D. Ohnutse. Outside of the name gags, the film lacked the humor one would expect from such a feature.

Guide: F-word. Brief sex, Nudity (Cody Renee Cameron)

Love indie film
tgallant3510 December 2022
I love supporting indie film and indie filmmakers as it is so hard to make a movie and get it out and when it happens it should be applauded. This movie was made by a talented up and coming writer and filmmaker whom obviously has a passion for the genre and has well crafted real feeling characters who you get to know who are put in authentic feeling situations. If you are a fan of the indie horror/thriller genre you should definitely give this one a go. Im excited to see what else this filmmaker has coming up to add to their filmography. Definitely enjoyed it and like I said celebrate indie film.

Spooky Horror Old School Style Slasher Film
neutron-0925920 November 2022
A fun movie, which provided a great mix of old school 80's slasher horror and comedy, and a spice of nudity which gave it that 1980's Camp Crystal Lake feel. And best part was that it was written by screen writter Lisa Brennan. The stunts and kills were your basic 80's slasher kills. The acting just needed a little more improving in the part were they should be terrified. But Storyline was Well written. Definitely enjoyed and recommend this to any fan of the 80's genre who don't mind low bugte or cheasy Indie films. Also the movie reminded me of that spooky facebook lollipop link where it looked like the creey old guy was hacking your facebook account, then at the end he has a picture of you and drives to your house to kill you. The creepy old dude look like the guy in the Death Camp movie.

A fun watch
mooreomar13 November 2022
A fun movie, providing a great mix of horror and comedy, with a nice blend of Supernatural and Slasher horror. The stunts and kills were really cool. Well written. Definitely enjoyed and recommend this to any fan of the genre. It's an indie film, so there's a couple budget challenges, but the filmmakers did a good job working around them, and came up with some pretty creative moments. The idea of the spirit of an old killer being resurrected, while done before, never seemed rehashed or stale. It's difficult to pull off a horror comedy. Usually, they lean too much into the comedy and not enough into the horror. This is especially true of indie films. This one does a pretty goog job of balancing it out.

Scary movie
kwedvik17 November 2022
Very scary movie could not turn away once started watching it great job by all. Well written storyline by Lisa would recommend this movie to those who enjoy watching horror movies good actors in the movie quite believable that young high school kids would want to venture off and do something wild and crazy like this and the flashbacks to the start of the film with the original characters having flashbacks all the way through the film was very interesting it definitely added more depth to the story and the fact that there was romance added with a different characters and even some rivalry between them was great.

Watch this movie before you make your next weekend getaway
moviemanus-116 November 2022
A group of arrogant kids decide to visit an abandoned camp with a dark past. What could go wrong, right? Everything, it seems. One by one they uncover little secrets, as if they even needed these clues to warn them about what may have been about to happen. This was a fun movie, and anyone who likes these kinds of stories will not be disappointed. The movie had just the right blend of elements you would associate with a movie of this type - witchcraft, a conjuring, a desolate countryside and characters straight out of our worst nightmares. This movie had everything one would want to see in a creepy film.

Old school teen horror goodness
DaveGrahamComposer13 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Has that classic 80s teen horror feel. One to watch with friends, you'll laugh, be grossed out, and try to guess the twists. I thought it was a lot of fun. It's clearly a low budget movie but made with a ton of spirit. I found it took me back to being taken to the video store by my older brothers and picking out the grossest and goriest films we could find, judging the cover. I'm assuming it's filmed on video but it looks like 16mm, which adds to that feeling of the "video nasty" era. Although the film does contain some intense scenes, it's not super violent or gory...but has a satanic witchcrafty twist on the "cabin in the woods" trope.

Indie budgets and aspiring goals.
stonertravis11 November 2022
Some people have a hard time registering themselves to be invested in films with small budgets which makes it unfair for the film to promote itself. As being familiar with indie projects. I'm able to see the film in it's true light. As a modern 80s style slasher with witchcraft. As all these types of films go it can be a slow start. But once the slow burn reaches full heat, you see a interesting tale with nods to multiple films and can tell the love was put into the movie with some good comedic moments, and good creepy vibes. Story has set up for something even grander and can't wait to see what's next.

Death Camp is very appealing and will Captivate its audience.
robert293722 January 2023
I met Lisa the screenwriter a few years back and realized right away just how amazing she is. When she reached out to me on Instagram to watch her movie, I was excited.

This Movie Death Camp is simply eerie, creepy, and surprised my son and I often. As old school horror fans, his favorite movie is the original Texas Chainsaw Masacre. And he liked this one just as much.

My son is a thespian and recognized Sam Clark from Grease Live with Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough right away. I recognized him from Neighbours where he worked beside my crush Margot Robbie. I give this a 10 star review for the storyline and Bill Oberst Jr is in it.

Entertaining
anafcasimiro21 April 2023
"Death Camp" may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but it can still be an enjoyable movie to watch with friends who love horror flicks. The film manages to create a tense and unsettling atmosphere that keeps the audience engaged. While the plot is fairly formulaic, the film manages to create suspense that can be very entertaining. The acting is serviceable, and the special effects are effective in delivering some solid scares. Overall, "Death Camp" is a decent choice for a group movie night where you're looking to have some fun and get spooked. If you're in the mood for a horror movie that doesn't take itself too seriously and can be a good time with friends, give "Death Camp" a try."

Fun Movie
rileyblis26 October 2022
Watched it over the weekend and enjoyed it. Was a nice choice of a movie to watch right before Halloween. The spookiest month of all! Spooky cabin='a spooky month!!!!! Pretty setting. Always love movies where characters drive deep into the woods to get away from it all. Esp places about haunted cabins and creepy old cabins. Reminded me of a few scary movies I saw in the 1980's and the 1990's. Had a couple laughs thrown in as well. I recognize a few of the actors from other movies. I hope there will be sequel? Curious what happens next. Enjoyed the flashback scenes also. They could almost be a movie on their own.

Great new talented screenwriter.
stilskinmonster23 October 2022
Lisa Brennan knocks a home run with her writing skills in this production. While the budget restraints of this film are obvious, Brennan's story is fantastic and keeps the viewer engaged throughout. She brings something to this genre that the industry has been lacking for this type film. The actors were interesting and rose to the occasion for a film with this type of budget. The audio could have been better and more consistent, but not bad enough to distract one's attention from the film, nor does it affect the storyline. Great job! Can't wait for more! (Review by Stan Mittner, author of "THE RULE.")

All in all, pretty good!
mustangcollector29 November 2022
Just finished watching this movie cause I was bored. Movie was pretty good. Has that Scream Queens, campy vibe, with a little bit of friendship troubles and jealousy tossed in. Scenery was nice. Actors and actresses all did a good job. Curious to see what movies, especially scary ones, they will be in next. Wondering where this movie was filmed? Ending had a nice twist and storyteller vibe to it. Actually pretty good quality for upper-lower to middle budget stuff. I will surely recommend to my friends. Movie is for all ages. Teens and adults alike. I really think it is one everybody will enjoy..

It was a good watch.
Jaytilya22 December 2022
I loved this movie. It was a good watch. The plot twist was impressive. I watched it yesterday while chilling at home. It kept you wondering what was next. That psycho man was crazy but clever at the same time. There is a need for more horror movies like this. A lot of scary movies today suck. But this one reminds you of how scary the movies in the 70s & 80s were! The movie producers & screenwriter of this movie should continue to make more horror movies. But each time the should become better & better. Challenge with self is the best challenge. Keep up the good work! They need to do a part 2!
