Marita van der Vyver, the author of the novel on which the film is based, already had actress Anna-Mart van der Merwe in mind as Clara when writing the novel. The title of the English (translated) novel is "Just Dessert, Dear".
Elzabé Zietsman, who plays the roll of Minette in the film, played the role of Clara in a one woman show adapted from the novel.
During the scene where Clara is on her awkward date with Kobus, the author of the novel, Marita van der Vyver, can be seen at the table behind them wearing a hat.
Minette's lover, who pops up behind her in bed, is the film's director, Etienne Fourie. He wore a shirt during the take, which had to be digitally removed in post production.
In the novel, Clara has three children - a girl and two boys. The boys were combined into one character for the film.
