Trivia

It is not mentioned in the novels that the Golden Company was ever hired by the Iron Bank to collect debts. Cersei never thought about hiring it. Currently it is hired by a new contender which has not appeared yet in the show - Aegon Targaryen VI, son of Rhaegar, who was presumed to be dead. See more »

Goofs

Missandei is confused that Jon's surname is Snow rather than his father's (Stark). When it is explained to her, she replies that, since the custom of marriage does not exist in Naath, the concept of bastardy also does not exist. However, as Missandei was kidnapped at a young age and spent most of her adult life in Essos, it is doubtful that she is unfamiliar with the concept of illegitimate birth and its consequences. Sansa Stark: How did you get back to Winterfell?
Arya Stark: It's a long story. I imagine yours is too.
Sansa Stark: Yes... and not a very pleasant one.
Arya Stark: Mine neither. But... our stories aren't over yet.
Sansa Stark: No, they're not.

Best Of The Season
5 August 2017 | by See all my reviews

All has been said about how GOT has been losing its quality since season 4 and I kinda agree to some extent but you also have to keep in mind that the show is about to come to an end and they have to rush certain things. And as long as they keep pulling up episodes like this I have no problem how the writer deal with things.

The spoils of War is certainly one of the best episodes this series has put up. Certainly topped Hardhome and is on par with Battle of the bastards and Winds Of Winter(tho I think The children and Rains Of Castamere are both on another level). What this episode does is it puts war in the center with political aspects on the background in a classic game of thrones way. And with one of the best CGI and action sequence the creator pull off yet another masterpiece which shall make what's to come more interesting and nail biting.
