It's still the same game ...
28 September 2016 | by (Norway) – See all my reviews

For some this may have been redeeming after that terrible previous expansion (Warlords of Draenor), so Legion to some would feel like the greatest expansion ever made. Sadly this isn't the case. The reason why we all loved The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King is because we had the feeling of something that was actually new back then. We got new races and a Hero Class, something that was really cool! But now that we're seeing it done time and time again in every expansion, it's no longer as exciting as it once was. Here're some of my feelings towards this expansion:

--- Let's talk about questing

While it took me a while to get to max level (110) due to the fact that I got bored out of my mind while questing in each zone. The reason for this is perhaps that there are still too many quests in each zone and a lot of them gets repetitive after a while with its typical kill this / fetch this. There's also a lot of Rares and Treasures which gives you either gear and/or artifact power, yet the farming for artifact power is just as boring and tedious as questing in the long run. However, I do like the artifact talent tree which is obviously a throwback to the talent tree of old WoW.

--- Let's talk about PvE

This is basically the same as it's ever been with a minor twist. They improved the dungeons this time around by giving you keystone challenges that let you run dungeons with a harder difficulty for a better reward and a true feeling of teamwork where you have to communicate with each other instead of being silent. This is definitely an improvement over the stale queuing for randoms just to have the same experience every time. Raids are pretty much the same as I understand and it seems that dungeons kind of replace them by having some replay value, though the better gear will still be attainable in raids.

--- Let's talk about PvP

There is no longer any PvP gear and that shouldn't matter anyway, farming for PvP gear was a boring grind in the first place. You now randomly receive a strongbox with loot - and if you're lucky enough you will receive something good - even though most of you won't have as much luck, I certainly haven't. Instead, you get your own talents for PvP to unlock by acquiring enough honor and eventually you'll be able to prestige for greater rewards such as cosmetics and mounts. To me, this is actually a major improvement to the PvP aspect and makes me want to constantly play BGs.

--- In retrospect, I think most of us are done with WoW and it feels like no matter how much they improve the game it just won't make us last playing it any more. But for new players, this might be fun for a while, but it's still going to make them look for other opportunities in games after a few months.
