Start the year off with a bang

Empire delivers a great episode to for its 2017 start after a rather long break. We see Angelo's troubles fade as quickly as they came in. It was nice to Jamal make a comeback with an old friend and go back to creating music he loves. Rumur Willis was a great addition to the episode who has some great pipes and held her own against Cookie.

It was great seeing Cookie and Luscious go at and launch attacks at each other. Rumour has it these two stars don't get along in real life on set due to ego clashes so it must have been bitter sweet having them go at each other through their children and artists. Perhaps the best and explosive moment was when Cookie appears drunk and takes a bat to things Luscious holds dear. We thought Luscious would strike her but instead the tension and decade old feelings are too strong and they can resist each other. It showed how bound these two are despite trying to carve out separate lives for each other.
