Weird
dcbatlle-19 January 2019
I am bilingual so I enjoy watching shows and movies in Spanish. I like this show, it's pretty funny. But every once in a while I'm struck by the fact that there are no English-speaking people in America. What gives? Did the immigrants finally take over? It's weird.

Just Ok!

At the beginning was interesting and entertaining, but after the 70th or 80th episode it got boring, and the end was very weird and nothing teally happened. They just extended it too much.

Hoping for a second season
clb262 February 2019
I came across this on Netflix and watched the pilot with English subtitles. I loved it. So addictive. The characters, their lives. The final episode seemed a bit rushed could have done with more episodes to tie up the story.

Hoping for a second season to.learrn more about their lives and how Manuel, Chivis and children, Trini and Benito, Stella and poncho are doing. I do hope plans are in the pipeline as we need more of this in our lives.

Review from Australia

Loved this series on Netflix. What a wonderful, wonderful cast In love with Ricardo Abarca in particular. Jorge, Angie, Blondie, Trini and her bakerman Manuel, and his youngest son and daughter, Chivis red haired daughter Lulu were all wonderful. The acting by Stella, Poncho and their wing man was excellent but too much time taken up by their parts .. small doses needed .. skipped a lot of their episodes. Do wish the star's follow up interviews were in English.

It has been a long time since I enjoyed a soap opera. Really different, funny. Love Carlos Ponce. He acts very natural.

Should have been 16 instead of 121 episodes
stevepat997 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I've enjoyed years of K-drama plus some great Taiwan dramas which usually run 16-20 episodes. I know that some do run over 100 episodes. This show should have been no more then 16 episodes tops.

At first I enjoyed the cast, in particular the beautiful Chivis and handsome Manuel. I watched about 20 full episodes and then could not bear seeing the snails paced grandmother Trini and over the top, endless sexpot Stella who was always 'in heat' pining for Manuel. I then skipped most sub-plots with those characters and concentrated on Chivis and Manuel, the super stars.

When Chivis and Manuel finally after 'forever' go on a trip to Key West to be 'alone' away from all spying eyes, a lovers get-a-way and spend a night in a motel bed. Given years of endless sex with Stella, his and Chivis hot chemistry and the fact Chivis has been abandoned by her husband for months these two adults had to finally have sex, right?. Wow, could not believe Chivis is revealed to be taking the new 'virgin' approach i.e. they can only hold hands in bed all night. They lost me then and there. While her 20 year old daughter is having hot sex Chivis is into holding hands with the stud she's madly in love with. Absurd.

I had to skip most of the final 30 episodes, viewing the final two episodes to at least view the series ending. Manuel's years of super hot sex with Stella had come to a screeching halt months earlier when he 'fell' for Chivis. It seems that Chivis 'new virgin' rules continued in effect up until their wedding day. Then, only after they are married does Chivis inform Manuel that he must attend church every Sunday (a shocking change to his lifestyle/beliefs), she must do her rosary every night and if and when they ever have sex Manuel can never see her body since all the lights must be out. Actually, Chivis let out a big clue early on when she announced that she feels like a (virgin) teenager dating Manuel.

Bottom lines.... horrid 100% unrealistic writing and about 100 episodes too long.

Love it!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I love like I live for it! But their are some weird like at the last episode when Angie wakes up Jorge his feet are dirty af like does he really go sleep like that (his character) and also in that same scene they were kissing like he has morning breath and she kisses him as if he already brushed his teeth. Also yeah they say they are poor but having a duplex house WITH TWO FLOORS and A NEW FRIDGE not to mention a small but still a BALCONY isn't necessarily you being poor because most poor people don't have two story houses with a balcony and a really new fridge like some people don't have anything close to that or even house sometimes and they dare to call themselves "poor" like whattt!! But other than that I love like it's a fun comedy and family soap opera that it's easy to love. ; D.

Trivial
kaffash9911 May 2020
I just want to say how can a writer be so incapable of developing characters ? All the characters are superficially written with no depth at all. Writting a comedy or soap opera does not imply superficiality and being boring ...exaggeration does not mean trivially written!!

Charming Show!
ecreveli-5791423 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a feel-good show that makes the viewer share the characters' joy by the end. You'll want to watch the last two episodes over and over. Wish there could be a sequel, but the kids are probably too old for that now.

Nauseating but addictive
jleeharris-3699114 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Most of the acting and situations are downright nauseating, but this novela is addictive. I want to find out what happens to Ms Chivas and Manuel, the only two normal characters. The ten year old girl is whiny and not like any 10 yr old I've ever been around. Trini is ridiculous with her constant snobbery and fainting. Stella is a compilation of every crazy ex girlfriend and a very nasty character who never gets the clear message that Manuel does not love her. The male characters all seem amazingly stupid. If you're bored and have nothing to do, its worth a watch, otherwise don't waste your time. I doubt this will get another season and it drags on forever. I fast forwarded through most of scenes involving Trini, Ponchito , Luptia and Stella.

very weird
kellysoriano-5060112 November 2020
It's an okay show. Can't really tell where it takes place. Chivis and Manuel are flirting the whole time while Manuel is in a relationship and the daughter is also. The creators make it seem that light skin blonde hair is superior to the "poor" brunettes and that that's what all the males want.
