The film was originally due to release on 2nd December 2016, however the filmmakers postponed the release by two weeks as they wanted their target audience in smaller towns to adjust to the then demonetisation, which saw the Indian government scrap 500 and 1000 rupee notes. The director went on record and confirmed that this was the reason for the new 16th December release date and not an attempt to avoid a box office clash with Kahaani 2 (2016) which released on 2nd December.
