One-Line Review: Pinneyum / An Interesting Take on Greed / 6 Stars
nairtejas31 May 2020
Although made in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's trademark style of distant sequences stitched together, it is the sudden shift from a slow-burning family drama to a crime (where character development goes for a complete toss) that works in Pinneyum (Once Again), a film that has a borderline ridiculous plot but still a lot to say about greed, stupidity, and joblessness and associated desperation. TN.

Enjoy it with a grain of salt

'Pinneyum', Adoor Gopala Krishnan's latest and 12th film has mixed response.Adoor treads the same path, same style. But as usual the craft, frames, editing,Photography, are worth watching. The performance of Kavyaand Indrans deserve praise and prize. The director claims that it is the story of the middle class who some time step into crimes due to theirgreed for money. The spoiler is the illogical and unconvincing development of the characters of the hero and the two old men who assists the hero in the crime. The casting of the hero also is disappointing. The attachment of a much discussed local crime to carry forward the show is not worth the the caliber of a renowned film maker like Adoor. Anyway watch it ,enjoy it with a grain of of salt.
