Storyline

Lady Felicia is hosting John Langton, the Earl of Frome and the bishop is demanding that Father Brown organizes a service which will impress the peer. At a party for the earl an unwelcome guest is his profligate cousin Basil Urquhart and when the earl's baby son is kidnapped, Basil is a prime suspect, along with the earl's valet Parkin, who kept his marriage a secret. The child is returned unharmed but when Parkin's wife turns up Father Brown deduces that she has been the victim of a crime herself years earlier, which helps solve the mystery of the kidnapping. Come Christmas day Michael, a tramp who has been sleeping in the church, comes to the aid of the service, making it a success. Written by don @ minifie-1

Really enjoyed this one.
26 December 2016 | by (Swansea, United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

How lovely to see this glorious show get a well deserved Christmas Special. I am so pleased that it's been popular and successful, it's been great viewing since day one.

I'll start with a rant, why was this not on at a more prime time viewing slot, Christmas Day BBC1 offered us Eastenders, when will they realise that not everyone is a Soap lover, Father Brown would have been much more appealing!

Mark Williams, as always very much on point as the lead, adding a touch of humour as only he can. Sorcha Cusack and Nancy Carroll as brilliant as ever in support. Jack Deam fun as always as the exasperated Inspector Mallory.

An interesting plot, with nicely drawn characters, well produced, nice, easy viewing, let's hope more Christmas specials will follow, 8/10
