Writer/Director Chris Raffaele worked on Orson Welles' last original screenplay The Big Brass Ring as a Production Assistant.
95% of the dialogue was ADR. Raffaele rigged a homemade sound booth because he wanted a foreign film feel, a detachment to the visuals to give the movie an eeriness. Scenes were shot and then the actors went down in the basement and redid their scenes for dialogue.
The movie was shot in 12 days on the weekends in the spring and summer of 2016.
The original title was "Cup of Sugar". This was a term used for decades regarding a neighbors friendliness. Neighbors actually walked over to each others house to get something small in time of need. "Can I borrow a cup of sugar?" There are a few reasons why the title was changed to The F3ar, but because most people under thirty would never understand the reference is probably the biggest reason.
The Ext. Night shots were filmed day for night and a red tint coloring was added in post-production to reflect the 'Red Moon'.
