Not as good as the first one

Warning: Spoilers
All the great characters are back and it's great to see them play off of each other and most of all, see new kinds of interaction on this show. It's great how this episode takes place entirely in the changeling hive. We get some good locations out of this. The most unpredictable part might have been when Queen Chrysalis captured Starlight Glimmer, but it turned out to be Thorax in disguise. That was really unexpected! I will admit that the ending could have been done better.

It features all the changelings reforming except for the Queen. Yeah, they're pretty easily persuaded. I do absolutely love the new designs their new forms have. It looks like they became part deer! I am so glad that Queen Chrysalis herself doesn't reform in this. It implies that she'll be back once again. I like the idea of the status quo being changed, especially now that there's a whole pack of allies for the characters! You can do a lot with this in future episodes. Of course, the animation is awesome. ***1/2

Before ending story , you see those characters were captured by Queen Chrysails ! For Those characters captured Alicorn Twilight Sparkle , Rarity , Applejack , Spike , Pinkie pie , fluttershy , Rainbow dash , princess Luna , princess Celesia , shining armor , princess Candance , furry heart , trixie lulamoon and discord are captured by Queen Chrysails ! This is problem for those characters why those characters has been captured by Queen Chrysails ? The mane six has grand magic elements of harmony to defeat overpowered tirek but why the mane six did not use grand magic elements of harmony to hit Queen Chrysails , WHY ? If you/someone choosing Legend Spyro , it's better duty for action and no problem at all . Unlike Alicorn or unicorn twilight sparkle for attacking encounter enemies and what she does for action duty , Legend Spyro is much more mature and serious, lacking his cockiness and arrogance and showed more willingness to correct his mistakes in the past. He is very intelligent, as he is able to understand Volteer's fast intellect and wide use of vocabulary.

Glimmers of good, but too many flaws stop it from shining

Found myself very disappointed in the first part of "To Where and Back Again", one of the weakest two part season finales of the show and a lesser two parter overall. Disappointing for a show that mostly did very well with its two parters, openers and finales. It wasn't terrible, but the characters and story needed more work. It was a shame that an inconsistent Season 6, with six great episodes, four bad episodes and most somewhere in between started unevenly and finished even more unevenly.

"To Where and Back Again: Part 2" sadly isn't much of an improvement. The same good things that Part 1 had are here, but sadly so are the same bad things with a few more bad things along the way. Of the two parts, Part 2 is the marginally inferior half due to it having the worst aspect of the entire two parter that almost completely wrecked it. Again "To Where and Back Again: Part 2" is not terrible, but there is too much that doesn't work.

Pretty much all the good things present in Part 1 are here too. It is beautifully animated, especially the very imaginative visuals in the latter portions, which allows one to be fully immersed into the Changeling world, and the character design of Chrysalis. The music, interesting this is the first two parter to not be a musical-type episode, has groove and atmosphere. While not caring for the characterisation that much on the most part, there are no faults to be had with the voice acting. Kelly Sheridan and Kathleen Barr really do throw themselves into the characters of Starlight and Chrysalis.

Discord and Thorax are handled very well, Discord is a lot of fun to watch (the show really did redeem him in Season 6) and Thorax's role is more prominent and has a good nature that doesn't jar. Chrysalis makes more of an impression here with more screen time, compared to "A Canterlot Wedding" she is still somewhat subdued but there is a menace.

Sadly if the rest of the characterisation was better and if the storytelling was likewise, the conflict would have been a lot more believable. There is again an overuse of Starlight, again too perfect and with not many leadership qualities. How things are resolved are through convenience and not by her. Really did not see the point of the Mane 6, again on the most part uninteresting and unlikeable apart from one small moment with Fluttershy.

While the story is more eventful this time round, it still felt bland and lacked excitement and suspense. As well as being too reliant on too convenient plot devices. The dialogue is a little better in this part, but still tends to be too mechanical. Other than the overuse of Starlight, what really brought "To Where and Back Again: Part 2" is most brought down by the ending. Which felt rather rushed, very anti-climactic and again too easily resolved. And seriously the way Starlight interacts with Chrysalis at the end while the rest of the characters are suddenly put on pause was unnecessary and incredibly silly. The message is a good one but heavy-handedly executed here.

On the whole, an average way to finish an inconsistent season. 5/10.

I think the ending might have ruined a lot of future episodes
bungeechordsalami7 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
There's really nothing more to say. The ending was awful, and I'm surprised I seem to be alone in thinking that, whereas Magical Mystery Cure wasn't really that bad, especially when compared to this. The beginning was good, but the climax and ending ruined the whole thing for me. Moreover, I think they only brought back Trixie just because some fans liked her, and there was never any canon reason to like her at all, just the inexplicable hype wagon which anyone who takes the time to question will instantly hate because of its sheer fanaticism without reason. Fan service can be good, but this is at the expense of the plot. Discord, while he had a bit of character development, could have had a lot more, and Thorax is just a bad character all around and I don't think anyone could ever fix that. I don't know what to think about Starlight, except that she shouldn't have become part of the main cast of the show, at least not in the way that she did. In the end, my problem is with the awful ending that I won't spoil, the unusual choice of main characters, and the questionable plot points. However, the latter wasn't really a big deal.
