Rising reggae star Sevana released her latest single “Keep Going (Chosen),” on Friday, marking the Jamaican singer’s first song release of 2024.
The song, a vibey mix of traditional reggae and R&b sounds coupled with Sevana’s soul-laden vocals, was produced by Kelsey Gonzalez, bass player for the Free Nationals — who frequently serve as the backing band for Anderson .Paak.
“‘Keep Going’ is a song I wrote and listen to, even now, to remember my power and purpose,” Sevana said in a statement. “We’ve all gone through trauma,...

Crime comedy film “Be Somebody” expanded its box office take by 20% in its second weekend of release in China and joined in a 49% surge in nationwide gross revenues.
Nationwide box office climbed from $43.1 million in the previous weekend to $64.3 million between Friday and Sunday. For all that, China’s year to date box office haul is now 26% below that of pre-covid 2019.
Staying on top of the chart for a second session, “Be Somebody” earned $23.9 million over the weekend, according to data from Artisan Gateway. That gives it a 10-day total of $60.3 million.
The movie directed by Liu Xunzi Mo is a send-up of crime drama tropes, making fun of the genre through the story of a group of filmmakers trying to please a wealthy patron by creating a sufficiently blood-thirsty crime thriller when things begin to go awry in the mansion where they are cloistered to work on the project.

Disney’s “Jungle Cruise” didn’t manage to catch a swift current in its China debut, drifting to a slow $3.3 million first three-day weekend, according to data from the Artisan Gateway consultancy. The Maoyan data platform currently estimates it will gross a total of just $6.19 million.
The adventure tale has clearly lost steam since its simultaneous release in U.S. theaters and on Disney+ in July, and even Dwayne Johnson’s star power hasn’t helped the park attraction vehicle paddle to farther reaches in the “Fast & Furious” franchise-loving country.
Instead, the local parodic thriller “Be Somebody” took the lead, earning $19.9 million in its first weekend following a Thursday opening day. It has earned $21.9 million in total so far and is predicted to ultimately go nearly ten times the distance of “Jungle Cruise” with a $54 million cume.

Do you remember the last time there wasn’t a theme week on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 30? No? Well, it was way back in Week 2, the night of the first elimination. Since then, it’s been all themes, from Britney to Janet, until now. Monday’s semifinal is, once again, theme-less.
As per yoosh, the remaining couples will perform two individual dances. The first round is a redemption dance of a previous style with which they struggled and the second round is a new style. Expect a lot of perfect scores because five of the six new dances are not ballroom or Latin: There are four contemporaries, one jazz and one Argentine tango on tap. That last one was assigned to Cody Rigsby and Cheryl Burke, who, of course, performed a virtual jazz in Week 3 when they were both sidelined with Covid-19.

Refresh for latest…: After seven weekends of offshore release, MGM/Eon/Universal’s No Time To Die continues to bond with audiences and has crossed $700M global. Importantly, that includes over $558M at the international box office, making Bond 25 the biggest Hollywood movie overseas in 2021 and throughout the pandemic era. The Cary Joji Fukunaga-directed Nttd had a great start in Australia this session and has now surpassed Skyfall’s lifetime in 18 markets and Spectre’s lifetime in 22 (see more below).
Meanwhile, in its sophomore session, Disney/Marvel’s Eternals continued to lead the international box office, adding $48M in 49 overseas markets for a $162.6M offshore cume and $281.4M worldwide. The overseas drop was -49% from opening last weekend, which is slightly better than expected, particularly in light of low social scores. In IMAX, Eternals has grossed $22.5M globally.
The Chloe Zhao-directed superhero gods movie held the No.

On “The Voice” season 19 finale on Tuesday, Carter Rubin pulled off a win, He gave coach Gwen Stefani her first victory after five seasons as a coach. But in our overnight poll, Rubin did not merit a majority of votes from “The Voice” fans when asked who should have won season 19.

“The Voice” season 19 finale will take place over two nights this week on December 14 and December 15 on NBC. Singing for the championship on Monday night are at least one artist from each coach’s team: DeSz for Team Kelly Clarkson, John Holiday for Team John Legend, Carter Rubin for Team Gwen Stefani, and both Jim Ranger and Ian Flanigan for Team Blake Shelton.
With only two weeks of Live Playoff performances under their belt — and only two weeks of seeing which artists earned the public’s vote — it’s tough to say with confidence which artist is best poised to win on Tuesday night. In the final predictions of this year’s derby, we’ve got Carter with the best combined odds to win at 16/5 currently. DeSz is polling second with a respectable 18/1 odds, Ian is in third with 35/1 odds, Jim is in fourth with 62/1 odds, and John would be...

In the lead-up to “The Voice” finale on Monday December 14, we polled viewers to see who they want to win. Their clear favorite in our Top 5 rankings of the season 19 artists is Carter Rubin, who enjoys a sizeable lead with 43% of the total tally as of this writing. He is being coached by Gwen Stefani, who is still looking for her first victory.
However Rubin better watch out for Ian Flanigan, who is being coached by reigning seven-time champion Blake Shelton. At 22%, he has polled almost a quarter of the vote in our best to worst power rankings. Remember, Flanigan won the Top 9 Instant Save. That sudden death showdown gave him another chance to impress “The Voice” viewers with his vocals on the Travis Tritt tune “Anymore.”
Shelton’s other artist, Jim Ranger, sits in third with 14% of the total tally. Trailing this trio of artists on the poll results...

Gwen Stefani is the only coach on the current panel of “The Voice” who hasn’t won a championship, but it looks like her luck is finally about to change. Carter Rubin, the 15-year-old singing sensation from Shoreham, New York, dedicated his emotional rendition of “Rainbow Connection” to his autistic brother Jack during the Season 19 semi-finals and launched himself and his coach to the top of our leaderboard. After five seasons as a coach, is Gwen finally about to watch confetti rain down on one of her contestants?

The Live Playoffs for Season 19 of “The Voice” concluded last Tuesday, leaving nine artists in contention for the title. One member from each team was voted through by America and each coach then had a chance to save another artist they wanted to move forward. That left Blake Shelton, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Kelly Clarkson each with two artists on their teams before the live instant save.
In that instant save leading into the semifinals, the remaining member from each team with the most audience votes earned a chance to compete. Bailey Rae from Team Legend ended up defeating Worth the Wait from Team Blake, Payge Turner from Team Gwen and Tanner Gomes from Team Kelly. That bumps Team Legend up to three contenders, but does that increase his odds of winning his second title?
Below are our power rankings of the nine artists competing for a spot in the Season 19 finale.

Lewis Capaldi made his American Music Awards performance debut with a rendition of “Before You Go” on Sunday.
The Scottish singer-songwriter performed a stripped-down rendition of the ballad, with just a piano backing his voice as he sang into the nearly empty and echoing Microsoft Theatre. The isolated yet intimate feel of the performance was fitting for the 2020 AMAs, held in the middle of a pandemic with a reduced in-person audience.

Who will win the highly competitive country and adult contemporary artist categories at the 2020 American Music Awards? The event is this weekend, so let’s take a look at who’s in contention.
Favorite Country Artist – Male
The favorite to win here is undoubtedly Luke Combs. The country superstar has had a huge 2020, spending multiple weeks atop the Billboard 200 with his sophomore project “What You See Is What You Get,” and notching a string of top-three hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, in addition to taking multiple awards at the ACM and CMA Awards. Morgan Wallen and Kane Brown did have successful years too, but Combs might just be too strong to beat.

Some of the year’s biggest stars compete for prizes this weekend at the 2020 American Music Awards. So let’s take a look at who’s in contention for artist awards in pop/rock, Latin and New Artist fields.
SEE2020 American Music Awards to be hosted by Taraji P. Henson
New Artist of the Year
The category this year is one of the strongest lineups we’ve seen in a while. We have three male rappers for the first time ever: DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, and Lil Baby. This is a fan-voted award, so they might suffer from vote-splitting if they share similar fan bases, but I wouldn’t be surprised if any of them came out on top. Ricch and DaBaby have both had number-one hits this year, and Lil Baby’s album “My Turn” is double-platinum.
Balladeer Lewis Capaldi is here thanks to his smash hits “Someone You Loved” and “Before You Go.

Unlike Record of the Year at the Grammys, Song of the Year is strictly for songwriters, and the rule of thumb usually is, if it’s not a lyrically unique song, an empowerment anthem, a love/breakup song, or a political song, it’s probably not getting a nomination. So with that said, expect Record contenders like “The Box” by Roddy Ricch, “Savage” by Megan Thee Stallion and Beyonce, “Dynamite” by BTS, “Say So” by Doja Cat and “Lost In Yesterday” by Tame Impala to miss here. But if not them, who can we expect to find in the race?
The Record of the Year winner often repeats in Song of the Year, so “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd is probably the front-runner for the writing award too. However, could the nomination review committee think the song is too lightweight for Song of the Year? It’s definitely a possibility.

One of the cool things about The Voice is that the judges don’t know who is performing until they spin their chairs around or the performance ends. With that in mind, you can only imagine how surprised Gwen Stefani and John Legend were when they initially spun around and saw 14-year-old (now 15) Carter Rubin standing in front of them. The talented teen left judges impressed with his rendition of “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi. Carter ultimately decided to join Gwen’s team and she vowed to be a mother figure to him throughout the competition. Although he’s going head

When the MTV Video Music Awards announced the 2020 nominees for Best New Artist there were six contenders: Doja Cat, Jack Harlow, Lewis Capaldi, Roddy Ricch, Tate McRae and Yungblud. But on August 24 the VMAs narrowed that down to the final three contenders: Doja Cat, Capaldi and Yungblud. You can vote for the winner by direct messaging @VMAs on Twitter until Friday, August 28.
Perhaps the most surprising artist to miss out on the VMAs top three is Roddy Ricch, whose songs have been a hit with fans as “The Box” and “Rockstar” (with DaBaby) are the two longest-running number-one songs on the Billboard Hot 100 this year so far. But he still has three other chances to win this year as “The Box” is up for Song of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video, while “Rockstar” was recently announced as a nominee for Song of the Summer.

To celebrate the release of Infamous, the new thriller starring Bella Thorne and Jake Manley, we sat down with some of the cast and crew to chat about it.
Written and directed by Joshua Caldwell (Be Somebody), Infamous tells the story of a criminal couple from a small Florida town (Thorne and Manley), who after a series of armed robberies, become infamous social media stars. On the run from the authorities, they continue their notorious exploits across the Southland, increasing in both violence and disorder to pursue social media fame, no matter the cost.
Chatting to Manley, Caldwell, and cinematographer Eve Cohen, we chatted to them about the film’s riff on classics like Bonnie and Clyde, the dangers of social media, and whether the experience of the film has changed their opinions and approach to all things Insta-famous.

The audience of “The Masked Singer” may have had their say, but our Derbyites are determined to have their voices heard about what went down on the Season 3 finale. They voted in our poll and a surprising 57% of our readers say the coveted Golden Mask should have gone to pop star Jesse McCartney, who competed as the Turtle. That’s over 20 points more than those who thought Kandi Burruss (Night Angel) was rightfully crowned the winner, which totaled 35% of our respondents. Only 8% believed that the trophy should have gone to Bow Wow (Frog). Do you agree with our readers that McCartney was robbed? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter and actor Jesse McCartney was just shy of taking home the Golden Mask trophy on Wednesday’s finale of “The Masked Singer.” As the Turtle, he placed second behind the Night Angel (Kandi Burruss) but edged out the Frog (Bow Wow), who placed third. Panelists Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger both correctly guessed his identity but Robin Thicke thought the Turtle was singer Adam Lambert while Ken Jeong was certain it was newlywed Nick Jonas. The rise of online video has produced a number of digital stars who have achieved success while still in their teens. As those stars continue to grow and nurture their careers, they are taking assistance from big-name talent agencies. The latest creator to join forces with a major talent shop is Matthew Espinosa, a 19-year-old who will now be represented by the Abrams Artists Agency.
Espinosa is one of many creators who first gained digital prominence through the six-second video capture app Vine but has since spread his influence across multiple platforms. He counts millions of fans on YouTube, Instagram, and Twitter, and remains active on all those channels.
With his dedicated following spurring him on, Espinosa has launched several high-profile projects. He recently starred in a film called Be Somebody, which performed well on video on-demand platforms. In October 2016, he announced the launch of his first book, titled More Than Me.
