Really enjoyable

Being from Perth and now living in Melbourne, I loved the connection to Minchin's home town, it seems so many Perth people have it and I really related to this. I think the presence of his siblings and wife and the fact his sister Nel interviewed Minchin really made for a warm insight to Tim's life, without being too invasive. I loved the home videos and photos, they were gorgeous. It would have been nice to meet Tim's parents as I think this always provides such a nice viewpoint and would've further aided in understanding Tim's childhood and history. If anything, I would've liked to have understood the writing process a bit more - this was explored a little, but could've been teased out further. I still really enjoyed the production and it is very clear that Tim Minchin is simply a ripper bloke!

The beginning of Matilda

I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary about Tim's dreams for Roald Dahl's Matilda.

My daughter, Eve, has always loved Matilda and fell in love with the soundtrack for the musical instantly.

What a lovely insight to the beginning of the musical along with learning more about the humble Tim.

This documentary makes me want to watch the live show more and cannot wait for it to arrive in Perth, WA (Tim's home town).

Tim proves that with enough determination you can make your dreams come true.

A must watch for all Tim Minchin fans.

A look at the beautifully serendipitous circumstances that led up to Tim Minchin working on Matilda the Musical and it's subsequent success. Family and friends unite to tell of Tim's journey from farm kid to struggling musician and writer to theater superstar (all Jesus Christ puns intended). Meanwhile also telling the journey of Matilda the Musical, from the very beginning. Starting with how the choice of writers was made right up to it's Broadway success. Plus many great moments from the rehearsals and opening night in Sydney. The talent of the young stars of Matilda is undeniable. Best of all Tim's own humble yet brilliantly clever views on his success and the journey that has let him to where he is today. A wonderfully touching documentary I could watch over and over again.
