Good show for 8-12 year kids
Netflix sure took some bold step in investing making this series. To be frank, the animation was pathetic in addition to story. The story was too childish. Even my nephew, 16 years old, couldn't watch it beyond second episode like there is nothing to watch in this show. He watches even the tiny TV kids shows having short but better plot. But this was, don't know what's in the creators mind. May be he wants to show somehow how it will be if animals become extinct in the future and how pathetic and evil we are and never learn our lesson in the most worst way possible. Those upgrades, dialogues, expression and responses of characters was not just childish but more idiotic. May be it is a trail to show action in more comical and childish way which was a complete failure and humor, I couldn't find it anywhere. We can't really tell for which age group this show was made. Anyway, it is a very bad show. I felt so idiotic watching the first three episode with that kid, cause I like cartoons myself, and so does he. Wish they will stop with the first season.

Mindless and Predictable
mrsnuke21 September 2017
This show looked and sounded like it was created by a couple of 10- year-olds who got their hands on some animation software. The dialogue was trite and clichéd and the plot about as predictable as you could possibly imagine. Add to that the patently obvious and preachy "we must save the environment" message and you have one of the worst animated shows I've ever seen. (And mind you, I'm an environmentalist-- but the heavy-handedness of the messaging was gag-inducing.)

I watched this show with my kids because I'm a big fan of Kong in its previous incarnations, but this one was a waste of time. And my kids' complete lack of reaction throughout the entire hour and ten minutes of the premier episode tells me that they agree.

Lame animation and atrocious dialog
mikecady200524 April 2021
With all the good animation coming out these days it's shocking to come across such a lame effort. So many other good options available don't waste a minute on this one.

good clean show
hajam-5152116 May 2018
I don't understand why anyone would not enjou this series! i have viewed both seasons and hope it will be back for a third one! this is a show made for kids or big kids like myself! (i am 55) it teaches morals and values, good clean sci-fi action and fun! it is a show that parents or grandparents can sit down with their children and watch together! i think people call anything that is good and decent shows simple anymore! there are so few network or any other channels that you can sit down and watch with your family without worrying about bad words, inapproate things, etc! there is alot of action, values and adventure plus good clean fun in this show! do not be so quick to judge this when there are so few choices anymore for good shows that are wholesome anymore! kong is a great show!

Representation is Horrible.
jossmircruz3 October 2020
What this show does in regards to representation of people of color is atrocious and I can't believe this actually passed through a series of producers before release. Not to mention it basically rips of Jurassic Park. Trash.

Good mindless fun

Warning: Spoilers
So the characters aren't the most developed and there's a heavy-handed environmentalist message. WHO CARES? It's a giant bloody monkey, what did you expect? Do you need anything else? One of the last episodes of the recent season involved, no exaggeration, the giant monkey fighting a giant man-cyborg riding a T-rex-pteranodon hybrid in a former amusement park. It's like a Disney XD cartoon, mindless action of the best sort. You need no further explanation, It all boils down to the formula of "Giant Ape beats up dinosaurs and saves the day." There's always something going on onscreen and it did hold my interest pretty well. The characters, while not-well developed, didn't steer away from the action with layers of annoyance and boredom, which I appreciate. All and all, while it's no "Stranger Things" it is entertaining, as long as you don't expect much.

Good show for kid excellent features
jmichaellovvorn21 April 2016
Kong of the Apes is a good fun kids Netflix original show. It follows the adventures of a futuristic King Kong as he and his friends protect the people and nature from a jealous super villain cyborg and his robotic dinosaur army.

The show is predictable,as are most kid shows when viewed by adults. It teaches kids that the natural world must be protected and is easy for them to understand. The humor is harmless classic kids stuff. Adults may or may not be amused depending on their humor type.

By far the coolest feature of this show is the unlocking system. Each episode you watch unlocks items and "battle" episodes which encourages kids to watch the WHOLE show if they want the extra content. So it feels like a game.

I recommend this to as a parent to parents who believe teaching their kids to protect the natural environment, and like a little Sci-fi fun with dinosaurs!

This is a great animated Netflix original!
jon_moore-1944418 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great animated T.V Show and as long as Netflix don't can it I believe it has a positive future! I would ignore the first review, because it's obvious that individual don't like anything new and just wants the same old typical Hollywood movie! When it comes down to it this show it unique and new all together and brings a different aspect to King Kong! It's family friendly as well as being mature enough to keep an adults attention. I think this show will be great and in my opinion the first reviewer was just set on leaving a bad review and made up his mind before probably even watching the full thing! I look forward to seeing more "Netflix Originals" like All Hail King Julien and Race to Dragons Edge. Enjoy

Really cool take on a classic
allenbohbot6 January 2017
So many people want classic or iconic characters to look the same and for the story line to never change. I understand that but as storytellers, we all want to try new directions and expand our imagination. This take on King Kong achieves that goal and is fun and set in 2050 which allows for the future to meet the past. It is a fun movie and the reception worldwide has been awesome. Season 2 is already in production. With Tarzan and Jane launching today on Netflix, how great would it be to see a Tarzan Vs. Kong series next? Would love that! After all, Tarzan is a human raised by a gorilla while Kong is a gorilla raised by humans. It has never been done and could be a lot of fun.

Amazing show for kids, maybe even good for adults
cdcastro-0254519 April 2017
I'm a full grown man and I must say I love this show. It's so sweet, and it is a bit allegorical to what is happening to animals in general now days. The show actually educates a little bit on this, and the vision of the show is the importance of animal conservation. The main character in the show, especially the antagonist, are a bit of stock but it is still a great show. It is also more interactive than other shows with short bonus videos with different endings related to the episodes at the end each one.

My kids love it
jenniferdannelly7 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
My 3 kids aged 10, 8 and 5 (2 boys 1 girl) LOVE this show and are very concerned about if and when there will be a second season. Therefore I decided to leave this review about how much they love this show in the hopes that it will help the show be continued on for many more seasons. I personally love how it promotes a good attitude toward animals, and promotes saving animals close to extinction. My kids particularly like the battles at the end of the show between Kong and the bots. I do wish it wasn't two brothers in the same family that are the main conflict in the show, however having two sons myself I can see the appeal. And my kids are BEGGING to find out what happens to KONG and friends after the last episode and the volcano!

good villains and wish list for the show
piggies-842402 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
the show can be very cringy at times with the protagonists but the villains are great and make the show really enjoyable to watch. i love botila and i forget that she is a robot, and richard is by far the best character in this show in my opinion. i would love to see richard embark on his own arc and discover why he is so evil. i also really want to see more amy, and hope her character becomes more developed. i really want to see richard and amy to becoming at least friends, and hopefully become lovers, all honesty it would be really cool and it would be an excellent opportunity to see some character growth on them, they are polar opposites after all and just see the chemistry between them. with season 2 confirmed, i cannot wait.

Great show for kids
chyn-2542817 February 2020
My 9 year old son just found this show on Netflix. I'm disappointed it was canceled. The show was excellent and it's hard for me to find shows my son likes. He binged watched it, in a 9 year old way. This needs to be brought back, I can't tell him it was canceled. It was funny, exciting, amusing, the stories are well written and entertaining.

Kong: King of generation z
shravankara-3976619 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This show is awesome! When the viewer watches each episode, features are unlocked for small "levels" or "shorts" in between the episodes. These unlock able upgrades are perfect to keep the attention of the audience. This show is perfect for my 5 year old son!

The show is about a group of kids who work with rare animals to stop the evil antics of the villain and his robotic allies. Dinosaurs and other genetically altered animals are featured in this show, as it is set 44 years in the future.

Comedic relief is provided by Kong, who is the ultimate key of the show. Other characters are great, as the children provide characters to which the target audience can relate to and the adults provide authority.

My Fifteen year old loves it!
avhowardflower4 November 2019
Hello! I love this show! It's fairly predictable yes, but it's entertaining and each episode showcases the same plot in a different way. Season One starts off with a movie... meaning the first episode is about 1 hour and 10 minutes or something... but after episode one, the length of episodes are 23 minutes. The show features decently diverse characters with Two siblings from China, A little Girl and Her Aunt from Mexico and an African American Man. All the characters I just mentioned are main characters. The show features childish humor but in an entertaining way. If you are willing to look past a few kindergarten jokes, I recommend this show for you! I wish it had a season 3!
