Not a bad episode.

Soon after Tosh Walker discovers a stash of silver coins from a shipwreck, he's found dead in the water. Local man, and rival, Newton Farrell is suspected.

I thought this was quite a good episode, despite a few moments of silliness, I thought this was one of the more serious ones from the series.

I like that Catherine's observational powers were questioned, so much came down to whether or not she was correct in what she'd seen.

The usual visual delights, this episode looked particularly good. I thought the opening scenes were really enjoyable, very good visually.

A nice cast, Jill Halfpenny and Ade Oyefeso were both rather good I thought, I did however think that Lorcan Cranitch was woefully underused.

There's nothing memorable, but it's an enjoyable enough episode. 7/10.

I think they should encourage more tourism to the island as they are running out of murder victims

Not an average, but not a decent episode!

Warning: Spoilers
As I have already mentioned numerous times before- the fifth season is the best season featuring Kris Marshall so far. The seven episodes I have seen so far in that season, have been surprisingly enjoyable ones. Only "Lost Identity" was underwhelming up until this episode. "The Blood Red Sea" is not a bad or okay "Death in Paradise", I would rank it just as high as "Lost Identity", but in terms of the story line as a hole, I definitely liked the one with Wendy Craig a bit more.

Let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. Everything looks good and the episode sounds amazing. The acting's not bad either. The main cast does better than the guest stars this time around...

. The story has occasional sparks with okay characters and some truly funny humor. Really liked the story about Goodman's stag night!

But...

. The murder mystery itself was very disappointing here with very few intrigue and surprises. Is it just me or the story about treasures does not belong in mysteries, but in adventure movies like "National Treasure"? And because the murder case is so run of the mill-one, the solution too was quite easy to figure out. Stepmom and her stepson having an affair, which drove to murder, I feel is a forgettable motive at best too.

. Also, not all of the humor works. There are moments in the story, where it's cringe-worthy (especially in the beginning).

Overall, not very impressive.
