Being preoccupied with the overly obvious message, there is some non explored potential here. It is when the doctor gives the injection to the patient that we are revealed to the most interesting moment in the film, as we are fooled by the animation's two-dimensional perspective.
And it would be in that perspective exploration that we could again and again have been misdirected in our expectations.
Maybe instead of someone taking selfies in front of an accident, we could have seen the accident be revealed in the background of something else. Instead of the glorification of the horrors of others, could the indifference towards them have been more powerful in this reveal. We could even have seen the people jumping from the building on fire land on the stretcher, to then have the firemen move and reveal the real fate of the victims.
Instead of relying solely on the potential strength of the message, should the animation have taken more potential from its particular medium to transpose it.
