Plot Summary

In 2016, between Tangerine (2015) and The Florida Project (2017), the French luxury fashion house Kenzo commissioned Sean Baker to showcase the brand's 2016 spring/summer collection. Against the backdrop of the off-grid desert community of Slab City, California, Sean Baker uses Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, equipped with the Filmic Pro app and Moondog Labs' anamorphic lenses, to capture a day in the life of Abbey Lee's Theo. Through a series of encounters with authentic residents of the isolated desert outpost, Sean Baker paints a vivid, sun-kissed tableau of original Americana, highlighting Kenzo's bold prints and luxurious designs. Trivia Sean Baker used the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with the app FiLMiC Pro to shoot Snowbird. In an interview with Fast Company Sean Baker says that "tools such as Filmic Pro-an app that allows filmmakers to control things such as white balance, focus, and exposure-and adaptive lenses made by Moondog Labs, which allow for wide-angle filming, have matured significantly, making the process of making a movie with an iPhone a much more seamless effort."
