Paco, so fed up with his nagging and nitpicking wife, comes up with an ingenious plan to end the unhappy union: Find her a boyfriend by hiring a professional seducer nicknamed "El Taiger" to whisk her off her feet and out of the marriage.
I thought this film was a fairly decent Mexican romantic comedy, although it seems to lack some sort of edge, which explains the PG 13 rating I guess.
The movie has a good pace and very good character development, although the basic premise for the plot, the husband wanting to get divorced from his wife because she is so down and negative all the time, was not developed so well.
She blows cigarette smoke in his face, embarrasses him at a party, and suddenly he wants to end everything shortly into the film.
That's fine I guess, as it's implied that her negativity has been happening for some time, and he's sick of it. But I feel that that premise should have been developed more.
And there was time to edit that in I think, as the film is only just over 90 minutes long.
All that aside, there seems to be good chemistry between the husband and the wife, and the flashback scenes to when they're just starting they're relationship are well done.
The scenes with the big guy that the husband hires to lure his wife away are pretty funny.
So overall, this is a little bit of a slow starting film that gets better as it goes, and turns out to be a decent modern Mexican comedy.
