Did You Know?

After Mark Powell's lawyer leaves, he begins to talk about a program he made called a daemon. He pronounces this as "day-mon". The proper pronunciation, at least in UNIX circles, is "demon". it is said that the term is derived from Maxwell's demon, an imaginary agent in physics and thermodynamics that helped to sort molecules. Daemon Pronunciation: In general IT usage sounds like Demon (US English 'Dee' as in Encyclopaedia pronounced Encyclo 'Pee' dia). According to Wikipedia, the 'Day' pronunciation is used by 'some' (i.e. a minority). From personal industry experience, the US English usage has been and still is in the majority.
