As with many shorts, I saw this on Short of the Week. The post for it didn't sell the film to me so much as give a bit of background, but maybe this was good – to make my own mind up. Watching the film one is struck by the style and technical quality of the film; it looks and sounds great, and is well shot throughout. The issues for me didn't come from these aspects. Instead the issue came from the plotting – a key thing for me. The opening connection doesn't have a lot of information behind it, and I found this distracting. I got the basic idea we were meant to go with regarding the female character, but as the film went on, it made less sense. Likewise the twist is one that sound better on paper than it is in the film; on paper it is all about dark sexual desires and violence of some form – so the two forms do connect in a way. In the film though it doesn't work like that – and the visual 'reveal' just felt a bit gimmicky, like they thought the idea was cool but didn't know how to pull it off.
It does have style and it is interesting as it goes along, but I found the basis of the film to be a bit unsteady, and the conclusion just left it feeling quite unsatisfactory.
