Despite being a massive Scooby Doo fan for goodness knows how long, expectations were somehow not high for 'Be Cool Scooby Doo' prior to giving it a chance. The advertising in my mind was terrible and the animation style, one of the franchise's least appealing, was very off putting. Still gave it a chance as a fan of the franchise and of animation in general and there are films and shows that have bad advertising but turn out to be good.
My overall feelings on "Be Quiet Scooby Doo" were mixed to mildly positive on first watch. They are pretty much the same now, with the usual strengths (mostly) and the usual flaws. But this time it was very uneven (thus disappointing) in the aspect that is one of 'Be Cool Scooby Doo's' (which is a good example of not judging a show by its advertising, so the book by its cover attitude, because it actually turned out better than expected) selling points and saving graces. Not one of the best episodes of 'Be Cool Scooby Doo', also not one of the worst.
"Be Quiet Scooby Doo" has a good deal of strengths. The character writing and interaction between the gang are dead pan, Shaggy and Scooby are a delight and Daphne's quirkiness has been quite the breath of fresh air. Shaggy and Scooby's friendship has a good deal of charm and amusement. The music matches the tone of the show very well, as does the theme tune. The voice acting is very good all round, Matthew Lillard has been a more than worthy successor to Casey Kasem as Shaggy and by far the best of his replacements.
Furthermore, there is some amusing humour, like the right or wrong joke and with the psychic powers. Most of the writing works well, with the dialogue having some nice wit and goofiness. The villain is creepy and the mystery on the whole is energetic and diverting.
It is flawed however. The animation never did anything for me for this show, despite liking to loving most of everything else. Still find it very unappealing, with there being an over bright and rushed look.
The reveal is obvious in all senses, in a show full of predictable denouements this is one of the most obvious. Not all the humour works this time, actually in "Be Quiet Scooby Doo" the humour is hit and miss, with some of the jokes (especially the falling crystals) going on for too long or/and were repetitive.
Overall, uneven but above average. 6/10.
