The video rental store scenes were shot at Chris Logan's Call Video in Norfolk, Nebraska. Humorously, the store does not have a basement in real life, despite that being a major plot point in the film.
The actor who played the video store owner had never acted before appearing in this film.
The film was initially released on November 4, 2015 by Nemesis Video, an independent film distribution company based out of Detroit, Michigan. This release was a limited run of only 30 hand-numbered VHS copies that came in a Blockbuster Video-styled clamshell hard case. It was later re-released on a remastered Blu-Ray on March 1, 2022.
The video store clerk wears a shirt that says "VH F'n S". This was actually a shirt designed and sold by Nemesis Video, the film's distributor.
The film was shot in September of 2015. In the bar scene, a sign is shown that proves that the scene was filmed on September 14.
