The working title "Mary Poppins Returns" is also the reference to the title of the second Mary Poppins-Book "Mary Poppins comes back" , released in 1935. Elements from that book were already adapted in the original "Mary Poppins" movie from 1964, including the scene with the measurement of Jane and Michael, scenes with the kite, the scenes with the Mary-Go-Around etc. See more
