Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

There is a scene involving teenage girls stripped down to their underwear.

One scene heavily implies that the protagonist was sexually molested by her uncle as a child. The uncle is seen stripped down to his underwear and he tells her to "come act like an animal with me" while imitating an animal himself. He then tells her to take her clothes off. A later scene implies it too, but not involving what's going on but rather his speech.

Moderate portrayals of violence are featured with some detail, but they are justified by context.

The film contains some scenes of violence.

One of the stronger scenes depicts a man wrapping his arms around an older woman and breaking her bones while suffocating her. There are close-up shots of the man's arms around the victim's stomach, and shots of her face as she gasps.

There is an off-screen act of cannibalism. We see the aftermath of one victim briefly, with her intestines visible.

There is also a scene of a female character shooting a man with some brief shots of the latter being hit by bullets and the sight of some bloody wounds visible on the man's body though it does not kill him.

One use of "Motherfu--" (the rest of the word is cut off), a few "shits" and mild curses.

A scene takes place inside of a bar where people are consuming alcohol.

'Split' is a thriller about Kevin, a man who suffers from multiple personality disorder. Kevin kidnaps three teenage girls, one of whom is Casey, a teenager with a very dark past.

As they are being held captive, the girls encounter each of Kevin's personalities and have to find a means of escaping, as the 24th and final personality known as 'The Beast' begins to emerge.

This is a very hard PG-13. The themes in the film should be suitable for teens between 14 and 16. Darker themes are also discussed.

The film touches on the themes of mental illness and sexual abuse.

The film portrays the male protagonist drifting in and out of different personalities as he acts and dresses in different ways, interacting with his psychiatrist and terrorizing his captives.

The film also contains strong suggestions of cannibalism, which are depicted in an implied manner, with no explicit portrayals of the act occurring. We do, however, briefly see the aftermath of one cannibal-related death.

In addition, the film contains references to child sexual abuse.

Given that the themes are addressed with some detail, the film would be more appropriate for a mature teen audience.
