Richard Wagner's exile years via his great-grandson.

Warning: Spoilers
Having seen 'Ludwig' by Luchino Visconti recently, it was even more interesting to take a closer look at this old 'friend' of Ludwig's. As a person, Richard Wagner certainly had his flaws, but his music has an undeniable place in history. I can't say that I've ever heard an entire piece of his, but the short fragments that were played here, sounded familiar in style immediately.

Antoine Wagner, a great-grandson, follows in the footsteps of his ancestor when he was (twice) in exile, both times in Switzerland. The mountains and views there are impressive, and the tales which surround his person and music are surely interesting enough. Antoine comes across as a sympathetic guy who takes a lot of picture (well, sure, it's his job), does some walking and impressive climbing and lets the insiders tell their stories. Maybe it's not a complete documentary about the life and times of this famous composer, but it is interesting enough and entertaining enough.

A good 7 out of 10.
