- "Breed: X" is about a young girl (simply referred to as "X") and the team of sadistic scientists who turn her into a human lab rat. Held under constant observation through a two-way mirror, they eerily conduct their crippling research on X as she remains in the captivity of a controlled isolation chamber. Years pass and X's primal mentality deepens into that of a caged animal. With basic necessities provided for, she knows nothing of life beyond her four walls and ignorantly suffers at the hands of her captors. The lead Doctor's mysterious connection to X fosters a menacing God-complex, in which he privately calculates his own intentions for her. His obedient assistants are compelled and motivated by a static pursuit of scientific advancement. They diligently pursue the goals of their long-term study with precise accuracy and remain unaffected- even as their leader's subjective tendencies swell with clogged emotion and take a darker turn.
X is eventually pushed to the edge of a severe psychotic break when the "Guide" appears in a mystical hallucination. The creature leads X on a surreal trip down the rabbit hole. Together, they weightlessly travel into the dark abyss and journey into unseen planes of reality. When X finally arrives at her destination--an Eden of sorts--she stands before a truly supreme being: The fantastical and divine "Maker." The Maker propels X's underdeveloped mind with celestial knowledge, advancing her far above mankind, including her mortal captors.
Tables turn on the mere men of science when X returns with unworldly power to reshape the tides of evolution. Their lab rat has become a God--an awakened new breed--with a blood lust for revenge. Can X truly shed her engrained animal identity? Will she deny her maker and bite the hand that feeds? Has she fulfilled the work of her fathers after all? ....X marks the spot.
